NEWS

A news article discusses current or recent news of either general interest (i.e. daily newspapers) or of a specific topic (i.e. political or trade news magazines, club newsletters, or technology news websites). A news article can include accounts of eye witnesses to the happening event. It can contain photographs, accounts, statistics, graphs, recollections, interviews, polls, debates on the topic, etc. The writer can also give facts and detailed information following answers to general questions like who, what, when, where, why and how. FEATURES

A feature article may be defined as a detailed presentation of facts in an interesting form adapted to rapid reading, for the purpose of entertaining or informing the average person. It usually deals with (1) recent news that is of sufficient importance to warrant elaboration; (2) timely or seasonal topics not directly connected with news; or (3) subjects of general interest that have no immediate connection with current events. Although frequently concerned with news, the special feature article is more than a mere news story. It aims to supplement the bare facts of the news report by giving more detailed information regarding the persons, places, and circumstances that appear in the news columns. News must be published as fast as it develops, with only enough explanatory material to make it intelligible. The special article, written with the perspective afforded by an interval of a few days or weeks, fills in the bare outlines of the hurried news sketch with the life and color that make the picture complete. LITERARY

A literary work can be defined as a branch of literature dealing with words as raw material to create a picture, an idea or a story in a meaningful pattern. Yet words, being the backbone of the pattern, are not really of great importance if they aren't carefully manipulated into good syntactically structured sentences so as to convey the target idea in an artistic way. As far as the design and the language are concerned, the literary work is written into two different ways depending on the use of language, so it's either in prose or in poetry. First, prose is a piece of creative writing. The prose writer, or the author, uses different kinds of sentences, long declarative sentences, short ones, questions, exclamatory sentences and so on; frequently supported by a stream of consciousness in order to clarify the required idea or displays the inner psychic of one of the characters in a novel, for instance, through long winding void of punctuation utterances. Poetry, on the other hand, is a piece of "prose" writing in an elevated style. Its characteristic is that it is written in verse form to express deep feelings or noble thought in beautiful language, composed with the desire to communicate an experience.
