All Bets Are Off 2
All Bets Are Off 2
WIDE SHOT JACK, HENRY, and Amy are all sat at a table in their
classroom crowded around a phone watching a horse race.
Suddenly flashes of horses racing comes onto the screen. CLOSE
UP Amy’s face is completely blank as she snaps back into
reality. TRACKING She gets up immediately and grabs a pen and
paper scribbling down a word. MID SHOT Jack and Henry look at
Amy with puzzled looks as she walks back to them and hands
Henry the paper.
AMY
Don’t look at that until later.
(pause)
I want to test a theory.
MID SHOT WITH CHANGES Amy, Jack and Henry are sat at a table
when Henry pulls the piece of paper Amy gave him earlier out
of his pocket.
HENRY
(holding the paper up)
Can I please open this now?
AMY
(sighs)
Have the race results come out yet?
JAKE
Yeah mate they came out earlier this afternoon.
Amy leans forward placing her elbows on the table and leaning
on them.
AMY
Get the results up.
Then you can look at the paper.
Henry pulled out his phone and started to type. Jake looked
over his shoulder has he typed. Henry then picked up the paper
and unfolded it. Henry and Jake’s expressions turned white.
They both slowly looked at Amy.
HENRY
B-b-but, how could you know this?
You left before the race was over.
AMY
This is going to sound crazy but…
(pauses)
But I think I can see the future.
Camera cuts to show Amy pacing by the table and Henry and Jack
still visibly trying to wrap their heads around what Amy just
told them.
HENRY
The future?
AMY
(While pacing)
Mhm
A grin appears on Jake’s face as he forms a plan.
JAKE
(excitedly)
Do you know what this means?
Amy stops pacing and she and Henry look to Jake waiting for
him to continue.
JAKE
If she can predict the results, then we can place bets
and make so much money. We can be rich!
HENRY
I’m not sure about that.
It’s cheating.
JAKE
No. It’s called getting ahead of the curve.
AMY
Okay, Jake might have a point.
Cmon Henry, I have this power I might as well use it.
HENRY
(disapprovingly)
Yeah, for good. Using it for your own selfish
purposes isn’t right.
JAKE
(cockily)
Fine, you can stay moral and stay poor.
We’re going to make some real money.
TRACKING Jake puts his arm around Amy’s shoulder and navigates
her out of the room, leaving Henry alone. CLOSE UP Amy looks
over her shoulder at Henry as he leaves the room with an
unsure look on her face.
LONG SHOT Amy is walking down the pavement looking drained and
lifeless. WIDE SHOT Her feet drag slightly as she walks and
her arms barely sway with her movement anymore. MID SHOT Amy
looks up from the ground to see a homeless person sitting on
the pavement. Suddenly flashes on a race, the homeless person
coming off of the street and her looking healthier. Amy thinks
for a second and looks at the homeless person for a moment and
smiles slightly, CLOSE UP she then reaches into her pocket and
pulls out a twenty pound note. WIDE SHOT Henry walks to the
homeless person and holds it out in front them. MID SHOTS WITH
CHANGES Amy gives the person a weak smile as she waits for the
person to take the money.
AMY
Here, take this.
HOMELESS PERSON
It’s too much I can’t possibly.
Amy kneels down in front of the person and takes their hand.
She places the money into their hand.
AMY
I trust that you will do well with this
money and in return I want you to trust me.
AMY
I want you to take this money and bet all of
it on a horse in the race later this afternoon.
The horses name is ‘Sunday Silence’.
HOMELESS PERSON
How do you know it’ll win?
AMY
Trust me. It will.
HOMELESS PERSON
Thank you. You have proven to me that there
is still hope for good in this world.
FADES OUT.
