Memo from Lawrence Yu to Tanya Lau

Hi Tanya

There’re three things I’d like you to help me with.

First, complete the note sheet about the proposed charity activities. Give details on the
preparation work needed for each of the activities and the concerns members have.

I’d also like you to outline the charity groups we’ve supported for our website. (I only
remember Flowing Love and Heartfelt. I’ve asked May to send you the rest of the
charities’ names.) Please include their names and their target groups as well as what
fundraising events were held in our school in the previous years. Lastly, please mention the
ways students can make a difference in their everyday lives that committee members have
suggested.

Finally, Please write an email to the teachers and students to remind them of the donation
collection box. (I’ve attached information on the donation collection box to this email.)
Remember to:

1. start by explaining the purpose of your email;

2. give details about the donation collection and what is expected of the donated items;
3. give readers some examples of the gifts they can donate; talk briefly about Heartfelt
as the donated items will go to them;
4. give readers Joyce’s contact information for enquiries.

I’ve attached details on the donation collection box to this memo.

Thanks
Lawrence

note of this since Lawrence will probably need this information.

Memo from Lawrence Yu to Tanya Lau

Tanya

There’re three things I’d like you to help me with.

First, write a summary of what needs to be done for each charity activity discussed at the
committee member meeting. Please also include the problem(s) and solution(s) we have.

Then, please prepare a summary report regarding the recent survey on student awareness
on charity work. Don’t forget to:

1. give me the names of the non-profit groups students are familiar with (May has
the information);
2. let me know about their involvement in volunteer work (get me the trends and
figures if possible);
3. include information on other schools’ involvement in charity work (just give me the
general trend);
4. include suggestions by the organising committee for students to give back
to society and make a difference (you may ignore the part on environmental
protection).

Lastly, on behalf of the Social Service Society please write a letter of request to Sammi
Yung, the famous MC and one of our alumni. You will need to:

1. introduce yourself and Heartfelt, the organisation we’re raising money for;
2. let her know the date, time and venue of the event;
3. ask Sammi if she can find time to be our guest auctioneer on Auction Night;
4. mention that we’ve been very successful with our charity drives throughout the
years; roughly cite the total amount we raised;
5. mention the two artists who will support Auction Night;
6. thank her for her time and say that we look forward to her favourable reply.

Thanks a lot.

Lawrence
