Motivation Letter for My Contribution to FKM UI

To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Olivya Esther Raphyta Rajagukguk, a first year student at Faculty of Public Health,
University of Indonesia. I am majoring at Public Health 2022.

When I was a high school student, I never imagined myself as a student of the Faculty of Public
Health. I had a dream to continue my studies in the International Relations Study Program and
become an ambassador. But after I attended Education Day at school, I found the Faculty of Public
Health, where there is a Public Health study program that studies social sciences in the health field.
I see some similarities in these two study programs, most likely studying relationships with the
community, but in different areas. I see that my chances are more remarkable to be here because I
am still hesitant to cross majors. I consulted a tutor and found out more about public health, where
I finally chose to remain in the science and technology department and chose this study program
as my study program in college.

Initially, I could not imagine being a student at the University of Indonesia. I can only dream of
how I can have a yellow jacket and live my college life at UI. Honestly, just hearing his name
gives me goosebumps. However, I was motivated by my seniors in high school and my best friend.
They had big ambitions to achieve UI, so in the end, I became a student at the Faculty of Public
Health, University of Indonesia now.

Public Health has become the most discussed issue in the last three years because of the COVID-
19 pandemic that is happening in the world. Many problems arise that have an impact on various
areas of life. Indonesia is a country that has been significantly affected. This pandemic has
weakened various infrastructures and developments, which affect the weakening of the economy
in Indonesia. It is an essential issue for us to study.
As a student of Public Health, I want to have a role in improving the quality of public health and
promoting health to prevent various diseases. I want to contribute to inviting people to adopt a
healthy lifestyle and educate people always to be aware of several types of diseases.

I also want to take part in IISMA in the next two years. For me, being an IISMA Awardee is my
opportunity to fulfill my dream of studying abroad, exploring other countries, and learning about
these countries. For that, I want to be an outstanding student and become an IISMA Awardee when
I soon enter my third year.

I plan to contribute to an organization I'm interested in. In this first year, I want to explore more
deeply student institutions and student activity units in FKM and UI so that I can later find an
organization where I will be dedicated.

I also want to take part in various competitions both in academic and non-academic fields. I want
to make multiple achievements to make my alma mater proud, especially my family and friends
who always support me.

I also plan to become a volunteer and do various volunteer activities as a form of my service to the
community in the future.

Esensi: Melalui penugasan ini, saya menjadi lebih semangat untuk menjalani kehidupan
perkuliahan saya di FKM UI.
