*Wherever relevant to any specific discipline, the API score for paper in refereed journal would be augmented as follows: (i)
indexed journals – by 5 points; (ii) papers with impact factor between 1 and 2 by 10 points; (iii) papers with impact factor
between 2 and 5 by 15 points; (iv) papers with impact factor between 5 and 10 by 25 points.
** If a paper presented in Conference/Seminar is published in the form of Proceedings, the points would accrue for the

Note: The API for joint publication will have to be calculated in the following manner:
A author A is the first/principal author, B and C are the 34% 33% 33%
corresponding author/supervisor/mentor, then A gets 34%, B A,B,C
gets 33% and C gets 33%.

from the remaining author group, then A gets 30%, B
gets 30% and C gets 20%, D gets 20%.
If all the author lie in Group I, they all have equal share 25% 25% 25% 25%
A,B,C,D
since Group 2 contribution is NIL
Note: The same procedure shall be followed for publications with more number of
authors.
Note:
(i) The eligibility of a candidate under the head “IV: Research and Academic Contribution’ is to be checked on the

basis of score the candidate earned each year.
(ii) In the case of promotion from Associate Professor (Stage-4) to Professor (Stage-5) the candidate’s published
research work to be communicated to the subject experts for evaluation should have been published after he was
appointed as an Assistant Professor (Stage 3).
(iii) If an Assistant Professor (Stage 3) has earned an aggregate total of 190 API points or more under Category III
taking together the two assessment periods: (i) stage-2 of 5 years duration and; (ii) the stage-3 of 3-years duration,
such a teacher shall be deemed to have fulfilled the requirement of minimum API for promotion to Associate
Professor (Stage-4) under Research and Academic Contribution provided in Category III, Table III of these
Ordinances.
(iv) If an Associate Professor (Stage-4) has earned an aggregate total of 210 points or more under Category III taking
together the two assessment periods: (i) stage 4 of 3-years duration and (ii) stage-3 also of 3-years duration, such a
