Re: Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, Inc.’s Bakersfield Plant Temporary Shutdowns
We are writing to inform you that Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, Inc. (“Dreyer’s”) will have temporary partial
shutdowns of its plant located at 7301 District Blvd., Bakersfield, CA 93313.
Employee temporary layoffs in connection with this action are expected to occur on November 23, 2022
[during the 14-day period commencing on November 23, 2022] (the “first temporary shutdown”). The
affected employees are expected to return to work on December 2, 2022.
The second temporary partial plant shutdown is expected to commence on December 24, 2022 [during
the 14-day period commencing on December 24, 2022] (the “second temporary shutdown”). Employees
impacted by the second temporary plant shutdown are expected to return to work on January 2, 2023.
Enclosed is a listing of the job titles of affected employees, the number of affected employees in each
job title, anticipated separation dates, and anticipated return dates, for both the first and second
temporary shutdowns.
Some of the affected employees are represented by a union, International Union of Operating Engineers,
Local 501. The names and contact information for the highest officials of the local and international
