COMPONENTS
What is
IT Environment?
The term “IT environment” refers to the
infrastructure, hardware, software, and
systems that a business relies on every
day in the course of using information
technology (IT). Some of the commonly
used resources in an IT environment
include computers, internet access,
peripheral devices, etc.

Application is a software primarily
intended to perform a variety of
functions for users. It offers services in
areas like automation, data processing,
and integration.

Applications are designed to run only

on desktops or laptops but not on

DATABASE
Database is an organized collection of
data and used by the IT Applications.
The Information input and used in the
IT Application is stored as data in the
database. The database component
generally poses a lower risk of material
misstatement of the financial
statements from risk addressed by IT
processes.
A database system, commonly known as a database
management system (DBMS) interacts with end-users,
applications and databases to capture and analyze the
data. The DBMS software additionally encompasses the
core facilities provided to administer the database.

the following are the commonly used types of databases:

OPERATING SYSTEM
An operating system is the most critical
software that runs on a computer. It
manages the computer's memory and
processes and its software and hardware.
It also allows you to communicate with
the computer without knowing how to
speak the computer language. Without
the operating system, a computer will be
useless.
The operating system's job
usually comes preloaded on
any computer you buy. Most
people use the operating
system with their computer,
but it is possible to upgrade
or even change it.
NETWORK
A network system is a computer
operating system designated
primarily to support workstations,
personal computers, and old
terminals connected to a local area
network (LAN). The network system
allows multiple devices to
communicate and share resources.
PEER-TO-PEER
A peer to peer network operating
system allows users to share network
resources saved in a shared, accessible
network location. In this architecture, all
devices are treated equally in terms of
funtionality. Peer-to-peer usually works
best for small and medium LANs and is
cheaper to set up.
CLIENT/SERVER
Client/Server network operating systems
provide users with access to resources through
a server. In this architecture, all functions and
applications are unified under one file server
that can be used to execute individual client
actions. Client/Server tends to be the most
expensive to implement and requires a lot of
technical maintenance.
