PALAWAN
INTRODUCTION
During the Operation led by Puerto Princesa Port
Collector Gladys Fontanilla-Estrada in the presence of the
Philippine National Police Maritime Group, Philippine
Coast Guard Palawan, and the National Bureau of
Investigation Puerto Princesa District Office from Aug 16
to 18 they block a 207 boxes and 3,507 reams of
smuggled cigarettes. I expected a good work of Bureau
of Customs that they can catch the illegal goods that
entering on our country, they're not tolerating people
with connections to ignore the illegal goods entering to
our country. Bureau of Customs really did a good job
from the very start, they always block illegal goods and
not so many of illegal goods can enter to our country
because of the good and strong security of the agency.
BODY
In accordance with Section 1146 and 1148 of the Customs Modernization and
Tariff Act, with the recommendation of the Condemnation Committee led by
Deputy Collector Filemon L. Mendoza Jr. and Auction and Cargo Disposal Unit
Chief Jeremias C. Leaño, the smuggled cigarettes were shredded and soaked
in water at the Palawan Flora and Fauna Watershed Reserve in Irawan, Puerto
Princesa City. Republic Act No. 4712 June 18, 1966 AN ACT AMENDING CERTAIN
SECTIONS OF THE TARIFF AND CUSTOMS CODE OF THE PHILIPPINES "Sec.
3610. Violations of Tariff and Customs Laws and Regulations in General. Any
person who violates a provision of this Code or regulations pursuant thereto,
for which delinquency no specific penalty is provided, shall be punished by a
fine of not more than one thousand pesos or by imprisonment for not more
than one year, or both. If the offender is an alien, he shall be deported after
serving the sentence; and if the offender is a public official or employee, he
shall suffer disqualification to hold public office, to vote and participate in any
public election for ten years." All violators have sequences to face during their
work of illegal goods, customs of law has the right to punish those violators
who violated the customs of law, regulations and rules. The illegal goods shall
shredded and soaked in accordance with the wrong doings of the violators.
CONCLUSION
I expected that Puerto Princesa
Port Collector Gladys Fontanilla-
Estrada states to ensure the
security of the agency to prevent
illegal goods that enter to our
country. Assurance is important
when it comes to the role of
customs as they responsible for
controlling the flow og goods,
personal effects, transports and
collecting tariffs and hazardous
items.
