LITERARY GENRE: DRAMA

Drama, as a genre, is another literary form that mirrors life. It provides readers
and viewers fresh insights into human behavior as it deals with motives,
problems, passions, and psychological encounters in life (Romero & De Los Reyes,
2014, p. 307).

It is an artistic work intended to be performed on stage as an objective

occurrence witnessed by the audience. Since this literary genre is performed
objectively before an audience, this literary genre involves the presence of the
audience, the artists and the work itself. However, the author himself is drawn
away from the piece. Therefore, the artists and work are both present but the
author is absent (Tan, 1996).

The drama is also enriched with non-literary elements such as music, dance,
mime, song, and painting (Tomeldan et al., 1986, p. 468).
