PSE - Process Safety Engineering-APRIL 2022
PSE - Process Safety Engineering-APRIL 2022
This training is necessary for operators of FPSO, offshore production platforms, Onshore production and
process facilities, Olefin plants, CNG Plant operators, NGL/LNG plant operators, lubricant production plant,
petroleum storage depot, refinery/petrochemical plants, Fertilizer plant, gas processing plant and other
off-shore & on-shore plants.
The training is also designed for engineers working in engineering and design companies, EPCM engineers,
Oil and Gas construction companies etc
COURSE CONTENT COMPLIES WITH OSHA 29 CFR ; 1910.119, IEC, API, AND OTHER PSM CODES AND STANDARDS
The survival and sustainability of the process industries lies on the smooth operations of the plants/processes.
It is therefore important to ensure that process risks are identified controlled and managed properly right from
the design phase of projects and throughout the lifecycle of operations.
The colossal loss caused by process related accidents are alarming; as it has led to major fires, explosions and
toxic releases which have incapacitated many lives, major asset damage and threatened business continuity.
To this end, Process Safety Engineering has become a major discipline and key area of focus in managing
process related issues and ensuring facility integrity and operations excellence.
Process safety is a blend of engineering and management skills focused on preventing catastrophic accidents
and near misses, particularly structural collapse, explosions, fires and toxic releases associated with loss of
containment of energy or dangerous substances such as chemicals and petroleum products. These engineering
and management skills exceed those required for managing workplace safety.
Learning Outcomes:
Types of equipment and process systems that have historically been problematic in the
Upstream and Midstream oil and gas industry
Basics of Risk Analysis
Thinking in terms of Inherently Safer Design
Most common process hazard analysis methods and where they are used
Layers of Protection concept - what the different layers are and how they are applied
Discuss several of the more common process hazard analyses
Identify the necessary requirements to organize management of change (MOC) to control
hazards
Coverage and areas of application of mechanical integrity
Evaluate an incident investigation to share its lessons with others
Interpret a Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) etc
COURSE CONTENT
The 4days course content was newly modified to include other critical process safety engineering
areas and it complies with best industry practices.
