4TH QUARTER EXAMINATION

General Chemistry II- Gr. 12 STEM Specialization

PERFORMANCE – BASED ASSESSMENT

I. OBJECTIVES
1. Demonstrate skills and understanding on the procedure of solving problem sets.
2. Apply the importance of chemistry to life.

II. NATURE OF THE PERFORMANCE –BASED ASSESSMENT

A. ASSESSED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
 Articulate the step by step procedure of solving problem sets assigned.
 Explain the importance of chemistry to life.
B. DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY
The video should provide understanding on the procedure of the assigned concept. This is a self-
made video tutorial format done individually for a minimum of 5 minutes and maximum of 7
minutes. The specific topic will be given by the teacher to the student and he will be given a
choice of the example .

Procedure:
1. The teacher provides the topic to be assigned to a student.
2. The student chooses his own example on the assigned topic.
2. The student creates a script on the step by step procedure.
3. Explain its importance to daily life.
4. Send the video thru Gascloud.

Video Format:

1. Name of the student, level and section

2. Topic assigned- Heat & Work, Thermochemistry, Law of Mass Action Expression or Acid & Base
3. Presentation of the Example of the assigned compound
4. Procedure -a clear step by step method shall be stated. Students’ strategy depends on its creativity. The
face of the student should also be seen in the video.
5. Trivia in Chemistry-may present this amazing chemistry fact in a statement, picture, etc.
6. Famous Quote from a Chemist which inspires you as a student

III. TIMETABLE
Giving of assigned compound and Conceptualization: May 16, 2021
Preparation: May 16-25 2021
Submission: on or before May 26, 2021 @ 3:00 p.m.
IV. RUBRICS FOR GRADING

Content…………………………………………… 50 points
( accuracy of scientific concepts are being applied and well-articulated steps)
Organization of ideas………………………….30 points
( required format is being followed, appropriate use of languages to express ideas)
Creativity……………………………………………20 points
(style or strategy applied is comprehensive & apt to the concept, clear audio & visuals)

Total: 100 points

Subject Teacher
SET A : PROBLEMS ON HEAT & WORK:

Instruction: Choose 1

. 1. 3986 J of heat is added to a system and 8725 J of work is done by the system.
What is the change in internal energy of the system?

2. 8455 J of heat is added to a system & 9388 J of work is done on the system. What
is the change in internal energy of the system?

3. 8899 J of heat leaves the system & 8766 J of work is done on the system. What is
the change in internal energy of the system?

SET B: PROBLEMS ON Keq expression:

Instruction: Choose 1

1. NH3(g) + O2(g) NO(g) +

H2O(g)

2. NO(g) + Cl2(g) NOCl ( g )

3. N2O4(g) NO2(g)
SET C: ACIDS & BASE
Instruction: Choose 3 differences
ACID vs BASE

1.
HCl NaH

+ –
2. H H (NaH)

3. Arrhenius definition
+
Releases H ions into the releases OH- ions into the
solution
Solution/ H3O+

4. Bronsted-Lowry definition
+ +
H or proton donor H or proton acceptor

Examples:

HCl + H2O → Cl- + H3O+

Acid base conjugate base conjugate acid
(acid loses an H+) (base gains a H+)

5. *H2O → Conjugate acid (add H+)= H3O+

→ Conjugate base (minus/deduct H+)= OH-

**NH3
→ Conjugate acid (add H+)=NH4+
→ Conjugate base (minus/deduct H+)=NH2-
