A. Preliminaries

Good Morning, Class!

Good. Morning Ma’am.

How are you today? Did you all eat

your breakfast?
Yes, Ma’am!

Great! That’s good to hear. Let’s

proceed to our prayer for today.
B. Opening Prayer

Let’s all stand out for our short prayer.

David, Can you lead the prayer?
Yes, Ma’am

As we gather today around your name, we

pray that you would fill our hearts, our minds,
and our souls. Transform us Lord and make
us more like you. Through Jesus Christ, our
Lord, Amen.
Thank you, David.
Kindly be all seated now.

Before we start, we will introduce ourselves

to the class. To begin with, I am Teacher
Lanie, and I am your English Teacher for
today, my pleasure to meet you all.
We’re also pleasure to meet you, Teacher
Lanie!

C. Checking of Attendance

Again, Good Morning class. Kindly look if

there’s any piece of paper or trash beside your
chairs and table. If have, kindly pick it up and
put it in the trashcan and if none kindly all be
seated, and we will check our attendance.
Okay, ma’am

Very Good Class! For today’s attendance I

am glad that no one is absent and because of
that let’s all clap.
(Students claps)
D. Checking of Assignment

Last week class I have given you an

assignment. Did you do your assignment?

Yes, Ma’am

Very Good. Now, we will check your

assignment. Kindly bring out your notebooks.
For the assignment, I instruct you to make a
sentence using the noun words I have given
you right?
Yes, Ma’am.

Alright. Who wants to volunteer and share

their assignment?
(One student raises his hand)

1. My father works in school.

2. My mother cooks delicious food.
3. I love dogs.
4. I do not have money.
5. He works in garden daily.
There you have it! Very Good. Well done
class, it’s visible that you did your
assignments, and you listen carefully to our
previous discussion. Now, let me see if you
really learned and listen to our previous
discussion.

Are you ready for my questions class?

More than ready Ma’am, Bring it on.

E. Review

Let us first have a short recall about our

previous lesson. And your answers will
indicate if you really listen to Teacher Lanie
last time, alright class?
Yes, Ma’am

So, my first question is, Do you remember

what is noun?
(One of the students raise her hand)
Ma’am A noun is a word that name
something, such as a person, place, thing, or
idea.

Very Good! Can you give me an example of

noun? Cat!
Chair!
Mary!
Amazing!

How about this, can you construct a simple

sentence using a noun?
(One of the students raise his hand)
David is handsome.

(Another student raises her hands)

I love dogs.
Brilliant! Always remember that subject
identification requires the use of nouns. We'll
be left with verbs and adverbs if we don't
have nouns. Any subject or object in our
sentence will be eliminated due to a lack of
nouns and that's why noun is very important.
Do you understand Class?
Yes, Ma’am!

Excellent!
F. Motivation

Now before we formally started, we will play

a game. Are you ready?
We’re ready Ma’am

Very Good! For the instruction of the game,

you will just link the picture on its
corresponding words alright? Just Raised your
hand if you want to answer.
Yes, Ma’am

(One of the students raise his hand)

Alright! Very Good, Noah got a correct
answer who want to try the next one.

(One of the students raise her hand)

Correct! Nadia got a point.

(Another student raises her hand)

Alright, Correct! Wio got a correct answer.

And for the last one who wants to try?
Another student raises his hand)

Excellent! You all got the correct answers.

Let’s clap our hands because you got it all
correct.
(Student claps their hands)
G. Introduction

Now, let us proceed in discussing the words

we encountered in the game through watching
a short video clip from YouTube. Remember
to pay attention and take note the important
details that you will see. Do you understand?
Yes, Ma’am
(Students watching video)
Now class, upon watching the video what did
you observe?
The people are moving!

Correct! What else?

The video is about action!

Yes, it is. In what type of action? Can

someone tell me how do we call those actions
of the people who are moving?
Action Verbs, Ma’am

That’s right.

H. Discussion

And that is our lesson for today. We will be

talking about action verbs.

Nadia, can you read the meaning of action

verb?
Yes, Ma’am.
An action verb is a verb that describes an
action.
That’s right. Thankyou Nadia. An action verb,
from the word itself ‘’action’’ it describes an
action. Just like what your classmate said, he
said that the people are moving therefore (The class is listening attentively)
they’re doing an action.

In addition, An action verb tells what the

subject of our sentence is doing. Action verbs
can be used to express physical or mental
actions. It explains what the subject of the
sentence is doing or has done. Alright Class? Yes, Ma’am
An examples of action verbs in words are,
sing, run, shout and talk. (The class nods)

How about you class? Can you give me an

action verb in one word?
Ride
Jump
Kick
Throw
March
That’s right how about action verbs in
sentence?
Alright let me first give you an example,
Anthony is throwing the football. The action
verb in the sentence is ‘’throwing’’ right
class? Your turn now.
(One of the students raises his hand)

The cat ran across the yard.

The action verb is run.

Very Good! Any other?

(One of the students raises her hand)

Close the door!
The action verb is close.
That’s right because, the word shows
something someone can do or something
someone can be or feel. Right Class? Let’s
now move in the two types of action verb

David, Can you read the two types of action

verbs?

Transitive Verbs and Intransitive Verbs

Ma’am
Correct! Thankyou David.

Transitive verbs are action verbs that show

what the subject is doing to another object.
These verbs are coupled with a direct object, (The class is listening attentively)
or the thing that is acted upon. The direct
object answers the question “What?” or
“Who?” to the verb in the sentence. For
Example.

She left the keys on the table

What do you think the transitive verb in this Left Ma’am!

sentence?

Correct! Why it is the transitive verb?

Because it answers the question ‘What?’

That’s right! And what is the direct object in

this sentence?
Keys!

Absolutely!

The next one Intransitive Verb. Jennalyn

kindly read what is intransitive verb. Intransitive verbs are action verbs that don't
act upon another noun or pronoun in the
sentence.

That’s right. In contrast with Transitive verb,

intransitive verbs don’t act upon another
pronoun or noun. It means that it only (The class is listening attentively)
describes something that subject of the
sentence does, but not something that happens
to someone or something else. For example.

Michael smiled with relief.

In this sentence we can notice that smiled
only describes what Michael did right?
Yes, ma’am.

And what is the transitive verb in the

sentence?
“Smiled’

Correct! Very Good, Class.

Now, can someone give me an example of (Student raises hand)

intransitive and transitive verbs in sentence?

Alright. Let’s start with transitive verb.

Malcom broke the window.

Alright. What is the transitive verb in the

sentence?
Broke.

Very Good!

How about Intransitive verb? Can someone (Student raises hand)

give me an example?

I jog every day.

And what is the intransitive verb in the

sentence? Jog Ma’am

Very Good. Because the word ‘’jog’’ does not

need a direct object like the intransitive verb.
Well done, Class!

I. Valuing

Always remember that Action verbs show the

action that occurs in a sentence and
understanding it will make you students to be
a better writers and communicators. Do you
understand?

J. Application
The student will group into five people. One
of them will guess the action of his/her
teammates is doing. The four left in the team
will demonstrate a word that they picked.
After the first person successfully
demonstrate the action and the guesser guess
it right, the next person will pick another
paper and demonstrate it. The sage will
continue until they picked five papers which
consist of five action verbs word.

K. Generalization
To sum up the lesson, What is action verb?
An action verb tells what the subject of our
sentence is doing. Action verbs can be used to
express physical or mental actions.

Very good! Always remember class that

Action verbs have a power that is not found in
other word types. Action verbs have impact
and provide instant information. They help
the reader picture the subject engaged in the
activity in a clear, precise manner.
Can you give me some examples of action
verbs if you really grasp something in our
discussion earlier?

Run
Jump
Spoke

Excellent!

Lastly, Can you give me an action verb that’s

in a sentence and tell me if it’s transitive or
intransitive verb.
My dog chewed his toy
The action verb is chewed and it’s a transitive
verb because it shows what the subject is
doing to another object.

Well Done! How about Intransitive verb?

Two shoes fell in the lake.

The action verb is fell and it’s a intransitive
verb because it doesn’t act upon another
pronoun or noun in a sentence.

Correct! I amazed that you learned something

from me in this lesson. Before we proceed to
your activity, Do you have any questions?
Kindly raise your hand if you have.

None, Ma’am.

That good to hear, Thank you and have Good
