Park schedule for 2022.
Almont Music in the Park, Thursdays

2022 Music in the Park a reality.
This year, concertgoers can enjoy
an extended schedule.
“This year’s schedule runs from
July 14 through September 15 as we’ve
added three dates in September,” said
park board member Roberta Kudsin.
The family-friendly concerts take
place rain or shine at the park pavilion.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their
own lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy
the shows.
Refreshments will be available for
purchase from Almont Lions Club
members beneath the park pavilion.

every Thursday. The park board puts a
lot of time and effort into making this
happen so a good showing by the com-
munity would be appreciated,” Kudsin

What: Organizers promise attend-
ees they’ll have “A Hairy Good Time”
at Sasquatch Uncut, a one-day event
that will make it’s debut at the Eastern
Michigan State Fairgrounds. Last year,
the beard and mustache competition was
held in downtown Imlay City.
New this year, the festival will fea-
ture new events, including a Dueling
Pianos show and fireworks display.
“The Eastern Michigan State
Fairgrounds in Imlay City has coordi-
nated with 2019/2021 National Beard
and Mustache competitor and Champion
Mark Byrnes to host an annual ‘world
class’ beard and mustache competition.
He is a member of Murder City Facial
Hair Crew, a Detroit Competitive beard-
ing team who benefit Michigan charities
through their efforts,” organizers state.
On Saturday, June 25, contestants in
the beard and mustache contest start
registering at 10 a.m. The fairgrounds
then opens to the public at 4 p.m. that
day. The competition begins at 5 p.m.
Participants will be vying for awards
in a total of eighteen categories in
everything from freestyle full beard to
five o’clock shadow and full body hair
to the Yeti Snow Man. Women and chil-

dealing in antiques, vintage items, col-

up the night sky starting at 9:30 p.m.

What: Huge crowds flocked to the
2021 Eastern Michigan State Fair and
organizers are gearing up for another
banner year.
Crowds will pack the grandstands
every night for popular events including
Monster Trucks on Tuesday, a bull
rodeo on Wednesday, Figure 8 trailer
racing on Thursday, Bump-N-Run on
Friday and Saturday’s Demolition
Derby. All grandstand events start at 7
p.m.
The 2022 fair will feature new,
high-flying shows too including the

Dive Show.
“They’ll each be doing three shows

Make plans to head north for a
short drive to Harbor Beach where the
Chamber of Commerce and city have
organized a slew of events for the com-
ing months.
The highlight of June’s lineup is a
Truck Convoy throughout Huron
County, a Truck Show in downtown
Harbor Beach and a Lighted Truck
Parade around the city all on June 11.
There will also be a Food Truck
Fest downtown Harbor Beach along
with the Truck Show. You’ll surely
want to try some mouth-watering meals
at one of the food trucks or in one of the
local restaurants.
Crowds will flock to the Maritime
Festival July 6-10 for jet ski races, the
“Battle on the Beach” strongman com-
petition, plus a car show, craft show,
lots of activities for the kids, and free
live music all weekend. Saturday night
is Harbor Beach’s annual fireworks!
Returning in August is the Pirate’s
Motorcycle Run. “Storm the Beach 5K
Run and 2 Mile Wal” is an annual
favorite .The Salsa Tasting event is
returning this year. All three of these
events will take place on the 13th.
Celebrate the fall season at the
September 17 Harvest Festival and
Chili Cook Off. There will be craft and
produce vendors as well as fun for the
family.
Throughout the summer, visitors
can take lighthouse tours every Saturday
from 9 a.m. to noon and the farmers
market will be open every Friday noon
- 5 p.m. through mid-October.
“Be sure to stop by the visitor’s
center and pick up a Visitor’s Guide
listing current and future events for
Harbor Beach. There is much
information about all Harbor Beach
has to offer in the guide,” the
Chamber of Commerce said in a press
release.
“The visitor’s center is the place to
get information about lodging, dining
and shopping in the area. It is located
downtown, at 146 South Huron Avenue,
part of the Murphy Museum complex.”
In addition to the Murphy Museum,
Harbor Beach is also home to the Grice
House Museum, five parks, Trescott
Street Pier, and the Veterans Memorial
Garden. North Park Campground is

Marina has been completely remodeled
with brand new floating docks, fuel

kids’ archery, a rock climbing
wall, chili cook off contest and much

Brown City Days Festival, June 9-12

What: Brown City has the distinc-
tion of hosting one of the area’s first
summer festivals. This year the Brown
City Days Festival will occupy the sec-

Saturday dawns bright and early
with the BC Days 5K race at 8 a.m.
There’s also a tractor show, pony rides
and a petting zoo, live music, a pizza
eating contest and more also on that
day’s schedule.
Saturday’s Grand Parade travels
through downtown starting at noon.
Later that night, fireworks will up
at 2 p.m. For a fee, attendees can taste
and judge entries in three categories—
ribs, a side dish and dessert.

Attica Days Festival, July 15-16
When: July 15-16
Where: Attica Township Park,
Peppermill Road
Cost: Admission to the festival is
free. There are fees for some of the chil-
dren’s events.
What: Attica Days Festival is plan-
ning a grand return in 2022. The two-
day event will include craft makers and
other vendors, children’s activities, live
performers, a car and motorcycle show
and much more.
Main Street will turn into a cornhole tournament site on Friday
night, starting at 7 p.m.
“Every day we are working hard to
make this year’s festival a truly memo-
rable one for family and friends,” said
Co-Chair Diane Malczewski.
Plans are underway to offer lots of
free entertainment for kids including an
appearance by the Bubble Man. Also, as
part of a pay one price fee of $10 kids
can play on an array of inflatables
including a 27 foot slide, a double slide,
and a children’s playhouse and more.
“This year, because of the huge

Yale Bologna Festival, July 29-31

What: Just before the calendar
turns to August, the Yale Chamber of
Commerce will host their 32nd Annual
Yale Bologna Festival.
Spokesperson Barb Stasik said vol-
unteers have packed a lot into the three-
day schedule including the crowning of
the Bologna king and queen, live music,
outhouse races and much more.
“We’re excited to be back with a
free, family-friendly event,” Stasik said.
New this year, a Kid Zone will
be created in the VFW Hall that
will feature crafts, entertainment and
more.
“It will take place in a safe environ-
ment and out of the hot sun,” Stasik
said.
Entertainment will include Knotty
Bits, a human circus; a Star Wars light
sabre show and a BMX trick rider bike
show.
The festival’s famous parade will
travel through downtown on Saturday,
July 30, starting at 6 p.m.
On Sunday, July 31, cardboard boat
races will take place in the Yale City
Park on Mill Creek. Competitors will
face off in two classes—ages 13 and
under and age 14 and older.
“Of course, we’ll have friend bolo-
gna and other treats to enjoy too,”
Stasik said.
