AACA (Architects Accreditation Council of Australia)

•In Australia title of an Architect is Legally protected


•Architects are registered through the state board
•There are three key requirements for registration
1. A professional degree from school of Architecture Accredited by AACA
2. At least two years of professional experience.
3. The completion of the Architecture practice examination

RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects

•The title “Architect” is restricted by law


•Architects have to spend at least seven years in training and higher
education. This involves
1. A five year long study program on a recognized course, usually divided in two parts;
RIBA part-1(Three years) and RIBA Part-2 (Two years)
2. At least two years training in an Architect’s office (First year is taken after part-1 and
second year after part 2.
3. The RIBA part-3 examination in professional practice and management.

AIA (The American Institute of Architects)

•The title “Architect” is restricted by law


•National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB)- the
registration board of each of 50 states.
•Three requirements: education, experience and examination
1. A professional degree from school of Architecture Accredited by NAAB (National
Architectural Accrediting Board)
2. Experience > intern Development Program
3. Architect’s registration examination > A series of seven computerized exams by NCARB

IAB (Institute of Architects Bangladesh)

•Established: February 25, 1972 in Dhaka.

•The IAB is a professional institute to safeguard, promote and develop


the profession of architects in Bangladesh.

•The members of the institute are morally bound to practice the


profession according to rules, regulations and ethics established by it.

•There are four categories of memberships


1. Honorary Member
2. Member
3. Candidate member
4. Student member

•At present IAB has two branch offices: at chittagong and Khulna

•The institute is registered as a society under provision of Law and


hence IAB has legal basis in the country.

•Registered Society number of IAB S-1816(105/97). Govt. of people


republic of Bangladesh.

•The Government of Bangladesh recognizes IAB as the only organization


to represent architects of the country.

•The Institute is run by a eleven-member Executive Committee that the


members elect for a two years term

•Improving Quality of Architectural services and as well as architecture as

•Act as professional body [3.1.4, 3.1.5, 3.1.16, 3.1.17-3.1.20]
