In 2 hours you will identify the problem(s) of the pairs provided to you.

You will then:

1) Research these problems.
2) Outline existing (or lack of existing) solutions- why are they not adequate?
3) Identify who may benefit from a solution to this problem (ie. CUSTOMERS).
4) Map the journey of 2 Customer Segments.
5) Answer a series of questions surrounding your given problem.
6) Most importantly- THINK CREATIVELY.

**A Google search of any of the pairs together will get you to the root of the problem.
THE PROBLEM

2 HOUR SPRINT
The following pairs are connected. In addition to this connection, they all have (had) a similar problem, some
directly related to the other; some parallel. If entities this large, lawyers, business consultants and their
parent companies encounter problems and cannot get this right; imagine someone who is just beginning their
journey, someone who has little or no access to resources, someone who has no experience, or access to
anyone with experience.

Identify the problem(s) of each pair. Identify any connection(s) between the pair assigned, or; identify any
similarities. Was the problem solved? Was it easy? Could it have been easier? Would a different solution been
beneficial? How could this influence the future? Can it create change? Could it disrupt an entire industry?

Put yourself in their shoes, put yourself in the shoes of your customer(s): Does this problem continue to exist?
Are there current solutions in place? Are they effective? Easily accessible? Would doing things in a different
sequence eliminate this problem?

Do these problems present opportunity? What needs to be solved? Who stands to benefit?

Do not define the solution; define the problem. Who would benefit from solving it?

This is a research assignment, and is being carried out with the understanding that
everyone may not be an expert in this field. However, you are in luck- you have all
been assigned a research supervisor- me!

This exercise has a distinct purpose- to prepare for next week; when you uncover
your own Big Problems to analyze for the remainder of this course.

I will visit each group for a few minutes off the top to assure you are on the right path.

FIRST HINT: Regardless of the pair assigned to you- Think big, then take a quick look
at the full list- can you draw any parallels? Then think small, and see where there is
a competitive disadvantage.
