NOTE
Do this check before you remove the wheel.
CAUTION
TIRES ON WHEEL ASSEMBLIES WITH MISSING, BROKEN OR LOOSE TIE- BOLTS MUST BE
DEFLATED BEFORE AXLE NUT IS LOOSENED. FAILURE TO DEFLATE TIRE BEFORE AXLE NUT IS
REMOVED CAN RESULT IN INJURY SHOULD WHEEL SEPARATE.
(1) Do a check of the wheel assembly for missing, broken or loose tie-bolts.
WARNING
DECREASE THE TIRE PRESSURE TO APPROXIMATELY 2 BAR (29 PSI) BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE
WHEEL. THIS WILL PREVENT A POSSIBLE EXPLOSION.

(a) Remove the cap (51) from the inflation valve (50).
(b) Attach the ADAPTER - TIRE INFLATION/DEFLATION to the inflation valve (50).
(c) Decrease the tire pressure until the pressure gage of the ADAPTER - TIRE
INFLATION/DEFLATION shows between 1.79 bar (26 psi) and 2.20 bar (32 psi).
(e) Put the cap (51) on the inflation valve (50) and tighten it.

(b) Remove the debris guard (16) along the centerline of the wheel axle to prevent
damage to the drive shaft of the tachometer.
• Remove the lockwire from the nut (18) and discard it.
NOTE
Pull the impeller (13) when you loosen the nut (18).

(a) Remove the screws (15) and the washers (14) or release the tab-washers (14) (if
installed) and remove the screws (15).
(b) Remove the tab-washers (14) (if installed) from the screws (15) and discard them.
(c) Remove the debris guard (16) along the centerline of the wheel axle to prevent
damage to the drive shaft of the tachometer.
• Remove the lockwire from the nut (18) and discard it.
• Remove the nut (18), the washer (19) and the impeller (13).
(a) Remove the screws (15) and the washers (14) or release the tab-washers (14) (if
installed) and remove the screws (15).
(b) Remove the tab-washers (14) (if installed) from the screws (15) and discard them.
(c) Remove the debris guard (16) along the centerline of the wheel axle to prevent
damage to the drive shaft of the tachometer.

YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AXLE SLEEVE AND THE AXLE WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL A
WHEEL IF THE AXLE THREAD PROTECTOR IS:
• NOT USED.
• NOT FULLY ENGAGED ON THE AXLE.
(1) Remove and discard the cotter pins (4) and the nuts (5).
(3) Remove the axle nut (7) with the ADAPTOR-MLG, H47682 .
(5) Apply a thin layer of 03GBB1 Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - on the
axle protector.
WARNING
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL THE WHEEL AND TIRE ASSEMBLY TO PREVENT INJURY
TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE WHEEL, AXLE OR OTHER EQUIPMENT.
THE ASSEMBLY IS VERY HEAVY (BETWEEN 130 KG AND 200 KG (290 LBS AND 440 LBS)).

CAUTION
MAKE SURE THAT THE GREASE USED FOR THE AXLE SLEEVE IS THE SAME AS THE GREASE USED FOR THE
BEARINGS (CONE AND CAGE). IF YOU USE A DIFFERENT GREASE, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE BEARINGS.
(1) Make sure (if the tire mixability is not permitted) that the wheel for installation has the same type
of tire (radial or cross-ply) as the other wheel on the MLG.
(2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct
condition.

(7) Make sure that the driving keys on the brake rotors are correctly aligned.
(8) Make sure that the splines (22) of the tachometer drive shaft and the splines of the bushing (17)
are in the correct condition.

(9) Clean the axle sleeve (2) with08BBB1 Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - and dry it with
filtered compressed air.
(11) Do a visual inspection of the axle protective sleeve to make sure that it is in correct condition.
(12) If damage is found, refer to CMM or contact MEGGIT for allowable tolerance.
(13) Make sure that the retaining ring (3) of the axle sleeve (2) is in the correct position. The ring
must be correctly engaged in its groove. If not, the axle sleeve is not installed correctly and you
can cause damage to it when you install the axle nut.

(14) Clean the splines of the bushing (17), the splines (22) of the tachometer drive shaft and the

(a) Apply a thin layer of03LBB1 Grease-Thread Anti-seize Graphited and Petrolatum - on
the splines of the bushing (17), the splines (22) of the tachometer drive shaft and
the splines (23) of the impeller drive shaft.
WARNING
YOU MUST NOT PUT TOO MUCH GREASE ON THE AXLE SLEEVE. A VERY HOT BRAKE
CAN CAUSE THE GREASE TO BURN AND CAUSE A FIRE.

(5) Install the axle nut (7) on the axle and tighten it with theADAPTOR-MLG, H47682 .
(6) In the cockpit, set the PARK BRK control switch to OFF.
(7) TORQUE the axle nut (7)25 to 30 M.DAN (184.37 to 221.24 LBF.FT ) while you turn the wheel in
the same direction.
(8) Make sure that the wheel does not turn and loosen the axle nut (7) gradually.
(9) TORQUE the axle nut (7) again until you get a torque value5 to 10 M.DAN (36.87 to
73.75 LBF.FT ) .
NOTE
It can be necessary to do steps (8) and (9) more than one time to get the specified torque value.
(10) TORQUE the axle nut (7)15 to 19 M.DAN (110.62 to 140.12 LBF.FT ) while you turn the wheel in
the same direction.
(11) Tighten the axle nut (7) until the holes in the nut are aligned with the holes in the axle.
CAUTION
MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL THE BOLTS FROM THE INSIDE OF THE AXLE NUT.
THUS, THE WASHERS AND THE NUTS ARE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE AXLE NUT. IF
YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MAIN
WHEEL.
(a) Install the bolts (8), the washers (6) and the newIPC-CSN 32-11-13-01-210 nuts 5
orIPC-CSN 32-11-85-61-210 nuts 5 orIPC-CSN 32-11-13-03-210 nuts 5 .
(13) TORQUE the nuts (5)0.4 to 0.45 M.DAN (35.40 to 39.82 LBF.IN ) .

(6) In the cockpit, set the PARK BRK control switch to OFF.
(7) Turn the wheel in the direction of the axle nut rotation and TORQUE the axle nut (7)40 to

(8) Prevent the rotation of the wheel and loosen the axle nut (7) to 0 torque.
(9) Turn the wheel in the direction of the axle nut rotation and TORQUE the axle nut (7)20 to
22 M.DAN (147.49 to 162.24 LBF.FT ) .
(10) Tighten the axle nut (7) until the holes in the nut are aligned with the holes in the axle.
CAUTION
MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL THE BOLTS FROM THE INSIDE OF THE AXLE NUT.
THUS, THE WASHERS AND THE NUTS ARE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE AXLE NUT. IF
YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MAIN
WHEEL.

Use the locating pins (11) on the joint (10) to put the shroud (12) in the correct
position.
NOTE
All the edge of the shroud (12) must touch the wheel.

The TPIS hole location of the shroud (12) is aligned with the joint grommet.
2 Make sure that the grub screw is installed on the impeller and that it is in
the correct condition.
3 Put the impeller (13) in position and engage the grub screw of the
impeller on the groove of the drive shaft.
