#3 MY CLIMATE STORY

Summary
In this project, you are about to write your climate story. Storytelling is such a powerful
tool for part of the solution for mitigating climate change and needs to be utilized more
so that we can band together and make change happen now.

Procedure
1. Brainstorming.
▪ Decide who will be you target audience that you would like to relate to.
▪ Bring something new to the table. This could be a policy change, new
implementation, a small change, etc.
▪ Research/interview people in your family or community to enrich facts
relating to the crafting of your climate story.
2. Prepare a written report guided by the following questions:
▪ This may include where you are from, what places have you seen affected
by climate change? How have you and your community been impacted
personally by the climate crisis?
▪ What is your response to climate change, how has your family and
community responded?
▪ What was the moment you realized climate change was a big issue?
▪ What do you see happening in the future and how can you contribute and
be part of it? What is your climate action?
3. Make a one-minute video of your climate story and action. Your video must
highlight your climate story and call to action.
▪ Tips
i. Do your research.
ii. Write an outline.
iii. Exercise your vocal cords.
iv. Set up your studio.
v. Get recording!
vi. Listen back and edit.

Deliverables / Required Outputs


1. Written Report about your climate story (pdf format)
Format: Arial, 12, 1.5 spacing, 2-3pages A4 size
2. 1-min climate story video. It must be on a video format (e.g., mp4, mov, wmv,
etc.)

Rubrics (Written Report)


Evaluation Criteria Rating
Purpose. Content clearly expresses and defines scope of project. Includes 20%
convincing, factual details and maintains strong focus.
Content. Demonstrates researched knowledge and understanding of topic. Succeeds 20%
in giving reader insightful presentation of information.
Organization. Presents factually compelling evidence to support argument. Cites 20%
authoritative sources that can be legitimately vetted. Attributes references to
peer-reviewed journals, professional materials by experts in field of focus, or other
approved sources. Uses consistent formatting regarding attributions.
Written skills and Format. Demonstrates clear knowledge of language and proper 10%
word usage. Writes purposefully, with awareness of syntax, grammar, and other
linguistic conventions, including spelling, punctuation, formatting, etc. Followed the
required format.
Integration skills. Highly capable of applying theories, practices, and principles to 30%
analysis of research topic, concept, or idea. Precisely and successfully provides
solutions, recommended calls for action, or conclusions.

Evaluation Criteria Rating
Content and Organization. Strong message. Covers topic completely and in 50%
depth. Includes complete information. Language is used properly and
effectively. Images and/ or graphics relate well to content
Technical. Digital enhancements are planned and purposeful, adding impact to 25%
the story line or focus.
Mechanics. Grammar, spelling, punctuation, and capitalization are correct; 25%
Citations give proper credit. Every photo, graphic or sound file is either original
or permission for its use by the owner is documented.
