If the half angles of these cones are made to be larger, the bearing will have a greater capacity to

withstand an axial force that is given to it. This is because the bearing will have a stronger capacity for
axial loading.

Tapered roller bearings have a property that allows the cone and the cup to be disassembled from one
another. This is made possible by the tapered shape of the rollers. The cone assembly is comprised of
the inner ring, the rollers, and a cage that both secures the rollers in place and ensures that they are
evenly spaced apart. The cage is what maintains the rollers in their current position. To determine an
object's height, the circumference of the object is measured and used instead of its length (in this case,
the height of the cup). On the other hand, it is not at all rare for installations to arrive preloaded and
require zero clearance at all. This does not happen very often, but it does happen. The formation of
internal clearance during the mounting process is ultimately caused by the axial orientation of the cone
in relation to the cup. This clearance is necessary for proper function.

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 355 was designed so that the name of metric
tapered roller bearings may be standardized.
