1. What are the 4 types/classes of fires and their causes.

20 points
 Type A – Ordinary solid combustibles such as paper, wood, cloth and
some plastics.
 Type B – are fires type of fire involving flammable liquids such as petrol,
diesel or oils.
 Type C – are fires involving gases.
 Type D – are fires involving live electrical apparatus. Electrical equipment,
appliances and wiring in which the use or a nonconductive extinguishing
agent prevents injury from electrical shock.
2. Explain fire tetrahedron
Fire tetrahedron is also called a fire triangle which is related also to the
geometric shape tetrahedron which is solid with four plane faces. This illustration
explains the concept of fire and represented heat, fuel, oxygen, and chemical
reaction as their elements. All of the elements essentially must be present for the
occurrence of fire i.e., oxygen, heat, fuel, and a chemical chain reaction. If you
remove any of the essential elements, the fire will be extinguished. The symbol
might be too simple, but it is a great representation, how you can theoretically put
out fire through the creation of a barrier using foam for example, and starving the
fire of oxygen.
3. What are bush fires, grass fires and forest fires?  15 points
 Bush fires - a fire burning in the bush (a wild area of land) that
is difficult to control and sometimes spreads quickly. Bushfires can
originate from both human activity and natural causes with lightning the
predominant natural source, accounting for about half of all ignitions in a
certain area.
 Grass fires - An uncontrolled and destructive fire burning on an area of
grass. These dangerous fires spread quickly and can devastate not only
wildfire and natural areas, but also communities.
 Forest fires - can be described as any uncontrolled and non-prescribed
combustion or burning of plants in a natural setting such as a forest which
consumes the natural fuels and spreads based on environmental
conditions.
4. Give 5 response procedures during a fire incident. 5 points
- Evacuation is the priority. Find a safe path to exit.
- Stay calm and don’t panic, it will make others panic also.
- Find the fire extinguisher to put out or lessen the surrounding fire
- Do not use open stairs in evacuation. Falling debris are also a hazard in a
fire.
- Cover your mouth/nose to prevent yourself on inhaling smoke.
