Learning Outcomes

This project concentrates on achieving following learning outcomes:

 Conduct a critical analysis & evaluation of a project and define the main
elements of project that require managing and controlling across PLC.

 To effectively understand the problem and then translate the proposed


solution in clear, concise and targeted documents for both business and
technical audiences.

 To apply knowledge of project management principles to any project


following PMI ® PMBoK framework.

 Ability to define the project scope from an initial proposal and then to
further enquire and clarify it through a series of questions to the project
owner {Project Sponsor/ stakeholder(s)}.

 To produce project documents that form an integrated whole; The


Business Report should provide the background information for the project
and the PID should show the major components of the proposed work.

For your Semester Project each TEAM will be creating a detailed Project
Management Plan document for one of the assigned topics, as per final list
issued. Remember the chosen topics were assigned to your teams according to
your interest however selection of the project approach must be discussed in
your initiation documents.

NB. For your convenience Appendix A contains a template (Uploaded on SLATE) of


a common Project Management Plan. However, you can customize this in
accordance with the project nature domain and requirements.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

Keeping a copy of work


You must keep a copy of every piece of work handed in (a printed copy as
well as an electronic copy). While doing the project I recommend all of you
to keep backups.

Plagiarism
This is a group based coursework and hence all work must be exclusively
done by your group. You must not show your work in progress or finished work
to any other group. Any work that is copied, in whole or part, may score zero.

Use of Project Management Software


You are required to use MS-Project 2003-7-10 or latest to develop your WBS
and Project Time Networks that will be an essential part of compiled Project
Management Plan Document

Referencing
Just an extension on the plagiarism part any report without appropriate
detailed references will be considered as a case of plagiarism and will be
awarded zero directly.

Penalties for Delayed Submission


For every less than 24 hours delay in the deliverable submission 50 % of the
group points will be deducted.

FINAL PRESENTATION
Only best of three Project Management Plans (Securing 80% and above
scores) shall qualify for Penal Presentation.
