How do you intend to use the four areas of the media theoretical framework to communicate meaning
and meet the requirements of your chosen brief? (approx. 400 words)

I aim to create an entertainment/informational magazine that will attract to my primary target audience of

men and women around 16-25. My magazine will focus on encouraging being yourself and allowing for
new versions of yourself to be expressed surrounded by a supportive community. My magazine is

named the Sculpt to portray the idea of sculpting yourself from an outside perspective. For my fashion
cover I will present a female model wearing a slick dark sexy dress and she will take on different
hairstyles to represent beauty in being eccentric, the model will be serious and stood powerful and take

up majority of the cover to show her confidence in herself. I’m hoping this representation will appeal to
my audience and bring to life the aims of my magazine, that being to create a community of confidence

in the way people can dress. The colour palette will be a red wine orientated cover, to relate the modern
layout of the colour to match the overall look of the contents page and cover. The font for the cover will

be a tradition ‘Times New Roman’ for the cover lines, ‘Bodoni MT’ for subheadings and ‘Eras bold
ITC’ for my magazine title (the sculpt). I’m using a traditional front cover to make sure I’m keeping

my magazine simple yet unique as I don’t want my magazine cover to be too flashy or over the top. My
second magazine cover will focus on two young teens, one wearing a happy floral dress and the other

wearing a more modern dark outfit, this will illuminate the two as binary opposites coming together to
represent Levi Strauss’s theory on binary opposites, however i will make the two represent different

emotions, for example the model in the floral dress will portray happiness and the girl i the modern outfit
will portray an emotionless person. I’m hoping that this representation can create a story of how they

can make one another happy and that their clothes can highlight their mood. Fonts used are
traditional 'Times New Roman' for main texts, 'Eras light ITC' for subheadings and 'Trebuchet MS' for my
contents numbers and information, the colour is a natural nude palette, i hope this creates an easy and
comfortable read for my audience.
