“Anak ng Pasig”, a song sung by Ms. Geneva Cruz, is a song that has a relevance to the
contemporary world. A brief summary of the song, “Anak ng Pasig” is it is all about a child who
grew up in a slum near the Pasig River. She describes her frustrations with the effects of the
progress made on the said river. In connection to this, our rivers, lakes, seas, and oceans, not just
Pasig River itself, are slowly being turned into a dumping site of our trashes. This is a social issue
in today’s contemporary world. It has ever been present before but it worsened now. It is
something that we need to make an action before everything gets worst. Regrets won’t bring
back what we had lost by the time it gets worst.
