These Parameters shall be listed in documents known as a Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS). Each construction organization shall qualify their own WPS by the welding of test specimens, and the recording the welding data and test cesults in a document known as a Procedure Qualification Records (POR). ‘The welders or welding operators used to produce welds to be tested for qualification of procedures shall be under the full supervision and control of the manufacturer or CONTRACTOR during the production of the test welds. Its not permissible for the construction SUBCONTRACTOR to have the welding of the test welds performed by another organization. ‘The specification recognizes a construction sub-contractor as the organization which has the responsible operation control ofthe production of the welds to be made in accordance with the requirements of the specifications. Ifin an organization the effective operational control of welding procedure qualification for two or more companies of different names exits, the company involved shall describe in their Quality Control System/Quality Assurance Program, the operational control of procedure qualifications. In this case separate welding procedure qualifications are not required, provided all other requirements of the specifications are met. Prior to production welding, the corresponding WPS and supporting PQR shall be submitted to the CONTRACTORICOMPANY for approval Preparation of WPS and POR WPS shall be identified by a unique number and shall contain complete data including al the Essential, Supplementary Essential and Non Essential Variables with the maximum and minimum values qualified. Mechanical test specimens shall be as per Table 1. Each WPS and POR shall have its own unique number, which shall be submitted for Company review and approval Joint designs referred to in each WPS shall be supported by an altached sketch of the joint. ‘The WPS and PQR shall be recorded and documented in the fallowing forms; Appendix WELDING PROCEDURE SPECIFICATION (2 Pages) Appendix 4 - PROCEDURE QUALIFICATION RECORD (3 Pages) Pre-qualified welding procedures are not acceptable, ‘The WPS and WPOR shall state the manufacturers name and brand designation for all welding ‘consumables used. Impact Test Impact tests for procedure quaification test shail be performed in accordance with Table 323.2.2 REQUIREMENTS FOR LOW TEMPERATURE TOUGHNESS TESTS FOR METALS in ANSIASME 831.3, ‘The test temperature of impact tests shall not be higher than the design minimum temperature. If the sub size specimens are used, a reduction of temperature as per Paragraph 323.3.4 (Test Temperatures) in ANSV/ASME B31.3 shall be adopted, (See Attached Table) 45.2 Hardness Test The welding procedure quaification test shall include hardness test when required by the applicable codes, standards, or specifications for such process designs as wet hydrogen sulfide, amine, sour services etc. 4.5.3 Welding Equipment Welding machines/transformers will be checked for accuracy every six months and the results of such checks will be recorded. A method statement detaiing the method, equipment used and report format will be Issued. 5.0 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR WELDING PROCEDURE SPECIFICATION 5A BAA 5A2 Welding Processes General (1) Welds shall be made by gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) process or a combination thereof, Other welding processes require the approval of the CONTRACTORICOMPANY. (2) The applications of backing rings and consumable inserts are prohibited. (2) Allpasses shall be uphill unioss specifically approved by the CONTRACTORICOMPANY. (4) Argon gas with purity of not less than 99.9 % shall be used for the shielding gas. (8) Heat input shall be recorded and controlled by measuring the run out time and length of one electrode. Stringer bead width shall be limited to a maximum of 3 times the electrode diameter. 52 Base Metals P-Numbers 1, 8, 34 and 51 are covered in this procedure, and examples of base metals are listed in Attached Tabie 2. Other metals shall be qualified in accordance with QW-424.1 in ASME SeclX. 5.3 Electrodes and Welding Rods 5.3.1 Electrodes and welding rods shall be selected from Attached Table 3 “Selection of Electrodes and Welding Rods”: Welding consumables shall comply with ASME Section Il Part C, AWS and other applicable specifications. Consumables data sheets from manufacturers will be available. Welding consumables shall be supplied with materiaVtest certificates. (1) Attached Table 3 shows ASME specifications and AWS Classifications of the applicable electrodes and welding rods. (2) The manufacturers of electrodes and welding rods shall be chosen by the CONTRACTOR in his responsibility and approved by the CONTRACTORICOMPANY. {@) Electrodes and welding rods shall be specified and identified in WPS and POR by ASME specification and AWS classification. Brand name of electrodes and welding rods shall also be specified in the WPS. (4) When non pressure containing parts are welded to pressure containing piping, the chemical and mechanical properties of deposited weld metal shall be met the pressure containing base metal. 5.3.2 _Allelectrodes and welding rods shall be used within the limits recommended by their manufacturers. 5.3.3. The WPS shall be re-qualified whenever :- (1) A filler metal in “G* classification is changed to any other manufacturer or manufacturer's designation (2) The chemical composition of the weld deposit is changed from A-No.1 to A-No.2 and vice o NATIONAL IRANIAN OIL. TGS-60 (ER70S-G: Kobe Steel, Ltd.) is acceptable for use. (2) For SMAW, the electrodes designated AWS classification E7016 or E7018 shall be used. (3) Allelectrodes for Sour Service pipework (NACE MR0175) nickel contentin te filer metals shall not exceed 1.0% 53.5. Abkilled Carbon Stoel (1) For GTAW, the cettiicates of filer metals shall include impact test which have been Conducted at -46°C or the minimum design temperature, and the results shall conform to the absorbed energy requirement. (2) For SMAW. the electrodes designated AWS classification E7016or E7018 shall be used. Itis acceptable to use a trade designations of LB-52NS (SFA 5.5 E7016-G: Kobe steel Ltd.) and NB-1 (SFA 5.5 6016-G: Kobe Steel, Ltd.) provided, thatthe certificates of fler metals shall include an impact test which have been conducted at’ -45 °C or minimum design temperature and the results conform to the absorbed energy requirement. (3) For sour service application (NACE MRO175), nickel content in the fler metals shall not exceed 1.0 %. 53.6 Welding Consumable Control Handling and storage of welding consumables is addressed in document no: ‘SPY-2-0000-CM-PR-045 (Welding Consumables Control Procedure) 5.4 Dissimilar Joint (YET TO QUALIFY ANY REQUIREMENT) 5.5 Low Temperature Service Delta ferrite content of austenitic stainless stee! filer metals shall be controlled as follows: ‘Where the design temperature is at -101 °C or lower, the electrodes (SMAW) and welding rods {GTAW) shall be low carbon type. In addition, the ferrite content of electrodes (SMAW) shall be in the range of 2 to 5 percent (FN2 to FNS). PWHT cycles including heating rate, the maximum and minimum holding temperatures, nolding time and cooling rate shall be specified in the WPS. 5.7.4 PWHT shall be performed when it is stipulated In accordance with ASME B31.3 Table 331.1.1 5.7.5 When joining an austenitic material to a ferritic material of such a thickness requiring PWHT by the relevant code, the welding procedure and PWHT applications shall be confirmed to the Joint Venture Contractor. 57.6 The requirements for PWHT of filet weld joints and branch connections shall be in accordance -nth those required by SPY-2-0000-PI-SP-100 ‘Onshore Piping Material Specification’ 5.8 — Test Specimens 5.81 All Welding Procedure Quaifcation test specimens shall be subjected to visual and examination and NDE. The test method used in testing the specimens shall be the same as the method used in production. 5.8.2 Test specimens shall be examined by NDE after 24 hours after completion of welding.
