Name: Theo Mikel D. Manon-og

___________ Section: 8-Kappa Rating:
Date Performed:September / 19/ 2022
__________ Date Submitted: October /2 / 2022
_________

Laboratory activities always begin with familiarization of the common apparatuses used in the
laboratory. It is important that students identify and know the use of each apparatus so that they can
perform any activity guide easily.
Objectives: After the activity, the student are expected to:
1) To
_ know what lab apparatuses are needed for a certain task.
2) To
_ understand how a certain lab apparatuse is used.
3) To
_ know when and how a lab apparatuse is needed to be used.
APPARATUSES:
1. Alcohol lamp 17. Medicine dropper
2. Beaker 18. Mortar and pestle
3. Bunsen burner 19. Petri dish
4. Crucible with cover 20. Reagent bottle
5. Crucible tongs 21. Spotplate
6. Dropper 22. Stoppers (cork/rubber)
7. Erlenmeyer flask 23. Test tube
8. Evaporating dish 23. Test tube brush
9. Florence flask 24. Test tube holder
10. Filter funnel 25. Test tube rack
10. Filter paper 26. Thermometer
11. Glass rod 27. Tripod
12. Clay triangle 28. Wash bottle Follow this format:
13. Graduated cylinder 29. Watch glass
a. name of apparatus
14. Iron clamp 30. Wire gauze
b. Use of apparatus.
15. Iron ring
c. Draw the apparatus
16. Iron stand

PROCEDURE:
1. Draw each of the given apparatuses in long size bond papers. Utilize the front and the
back pages. (Note: fold one long size bond paper into four equal parts. One apparatus
should be drawn in each quarter.)
2. Give one use (complete sentence) of each apparatus.
3. Follow the format in the box above.

NOTE: The students are required to make a Periodic Table (latest) using ¼ illustration board. Write only the
symbols, the atomic numbers, and the atomic masses of the elements. Due – last week of Sept.
1.Alcohol Lamp - An alcohol lamp is used for heating, sterilization, and combustion
in a laboratory.
2.Beaker - A reaction container or to hold liquid or solid samples.
3.Bunsen Burner - Used as a heat source in laboratory experiments.

4.Crucible with Cover - A container for melting or testing metals , etc.

5. Crucible Tongs - to handle a hot crucible, evaporating dishes, flasks, small beakers
or other items which have a high temperature

6. Dropper / 17. Medicine Dropper - To transfer liquids from one place to another, as well as to
drop liquids into solutions or onto surfaces

7. Erlenmeyer Flask - to contain liquids and for mixing, heating, cooling, incubation, filtration, storage, and
other liquid-handling processes.
8. Evaporating Dish - for the evaporation of liquids and solutions to produce a solid substance or concentrated
solutions.
9. Florence Flask - used as a container to hold liquids.
10.Filter Paper - It is used to separate fine solid particles from liquids or gases.
11. Glass Rod - a piece of laboratory equipment used to mix chemicals.
12. Clay Triangle - Used to hold crucibles and porcelain dishes heated by a Bunsen burner.
13. Gradutated Cylinder -
14. Iron Clamp - To hold the iron ring
15. Iron Ring - To support flasks or funnels upright in a stand.
16. Iron Stand - Supports the iron ring when heating substances or mixtures in a flask or beaker.
18. Mortar and Pestle - to crush up solid chemicals into smaller pieces, or to grind solids into fine powder.
19.Petri Dish - to culture different microorganisms and cells.
20.Reagent Bottle - to store chemicals in liquid or powder form.
