TELAGA WARNA

 Long long ago there was a kingdom in West Java. The kingdom was ruled by
king. People called their king His Majesty Prabu. Prabu was kind and wise king.
No wonder if that country was prosperous. There’s no hunger in this kingdom.
It was very happy condition. But prabu and his queen hadn’t got any children. It
made the royal couple very very sad. Royal advistor suggested the king to adopt
a child. But Prabu and the Queen didn’t agree.

Adivisor         : “Prabu, I suggest you adopt a child. Because you haven’t child to
change    you rule the king when you have old.”

King    : “I don’t agree with your suggest!”

Advisor         : “Why you don’t agree Prabu? All people in this kingdom want just ypur
child who change when you not rule this kingdom.”

King    : “Because for us, our own daughter or son is better than adopted children. Do
you think like that my wife?”

Queen  : “Yes, I think so. Our own daughter or son is better than adopted children.”

Queen: "If you really have to go to the forest to prayed , I will also pray. Be careful.

 Prabu decided to go. He went to the jungle. There he prayed to God.

King: "Oh my God. Please, give me and my wife a child. I will promise to you, if you give
me a child I will love them.”

 A few montsh letter the queen got pregnant. All people in the kingdom felt happy.
They sent many presents to the palace to express their happiness.

Queen: am pregnant…”

Prabu: "Is that true?"

Queen: "Yes, that's right, I has been to the palace healer and the healer said that I was
pregnant."
  Nine months later a princess was born. People sent their presents again as a gift
to a little princess. This baby grew as a beautiful teenager her name is Rukmini

People in         : “Ohh.. How beautiful you are.”

 Prabu and Queen love their daughter so much. They gave what ever she
wanted. It made Princess a very spoiled girl. When her wish couldn’t do that.
Even though the princess behaved badly, her parents loved her, so did the
people in that kingdom.
 Day by day, the princess grew more beautiful. No girls couldn’t compare with her.
In a few days, Princess would be 17 years old.

Rukmini: "Mom, I don't like that dress!"

Queen: "But,that's the clothes of our ancestors. My mother used to wear it when she
was after you too. Because it shows that we have grown up.”

Rukmini :” (sitting on the chair) it has nothing to do with mom! It's just a cloth!
Especially since it's centuries old, I wouldn't be fit to wear it. I am still young!

Advisor: "(cutting daughter's nails)

Queen: "You can't say that Rukimini, the cloth has a very big meaning.

Rukmini: "(cut off the conversation) never mind mother! If mom still makes me wear
it, I won't want to come to my birthday party!

Queen: (sighs and leaves with a sad face)

Rukmini: "Finally mother went too. I'm tired of hearing all the orders. The main advisor,
if your mother comes, don't open the door for her. Because today I don't want to see
her, I want to stay in my room so he doesn't keep forcing me."

Advisor : "pardon the princess, but what if the queen is angry? (fearful tone)”

Rukmini: "Just follow my words!""

Advisor: "but, I'm afraid if ..."

Rukmini: “(cut off the conversation) it's quiet! If you don't obey my orders, it means
you are not afraid of me and that means I have to expel you from my father's kingdom!

Advisor: "Sorry princess, forgive me."

(The princess left the advisor who was so sad because of the Princess'
behavior.)

 Prabu took some gold and gems and went to a jeweler to make a gift for his
daughter

King                : “Please make a beautiful necklace for my daughter.”

Goldsmith       : “My pleasure, Your Majesty.”

The goldsmith worked with all his heart and his ability. He wanted to create the most
beautiful necklace in the word because he loved the princess.

Goldsmith       : “This is the beautiful necklace. I make it with my heart and my ability. I
hope you happy with this necklace.”

King    : “Ohh… how beautiful this necklace.”

 The birthday came. People gathered in the palace field. When Prabu and Queen
appeared, people welcomed them happily,

Cheers were louder and louder when the princess appeared with her fabulous
pretty face. Everybody admired her beauty. The goldsmith gave her a small and
glamorous pillow A wonder full necklace was on it

. King: "This is a gift from the people who love you." (giving gifts)

Rukmini: (accepts and opens it)

King: Do you like it?”

Rukmini : (looks at the necklace for a moment) “What is this necklace? I don't like
dad. This necklace is ugly! I don't wanna wear it (necklace tossed)

 (Even the beautiful necklace was broken. The gold and jewels were scattered on
the floor. All the people present were shocked. No one spoke. There was
silence.)

Queen : "Rukmini! What are you doing! You made your father and mother so ashamed!
(cry)"

Everyone in the kingdom wept because they saw the queen crying. Suddenly a spring
appeared from the royal courtyard, the water came out very fast and formed a pool of
water. Everyone was scared and blamed the Princess.

Goldsmith : “What have you done Princess! You have endangered everyone here! Look
at what you did!”

 The princess was so scared she regretted her evil deeds. But the puddle had
become a lake so big that it drowned the kingdom.
 Nowadays the water on that lake is not as full as before. There is only a small
lake now. People called the lake “Talaga Warna”. It is mean “Lake of Colour”. It’s
located in Puncak, West Java. On a bright day, the lake is full of colour
 These colors come from shadows of forest, plants, flowers, and sky around the
lake. But some people said that the colours are from the princess’s necklace,
which spreads at the bottom of the lake..
