The Script: Hall of Fame

First stanza:

Yeah, you can be the greatest, you can be the best

You can be the King Kong bangin' on your chest
You can beat the world, you can beat the war
You can talk to God, go bangin' on his door

The first two lines indicates that anyone can be great in life and achieve their ambitions. If one
truly has the determination to aim high and make things possible it can be achieved. The verb
‘can’ indicate possibility and hope.

Second stanza:

You can throw your hands up, you can beat the clock (Yeah)
You can move a mountain, you can break rocks
Some will call it practice, some will call it luck
But either way you're going to the history book

“Move a mountain, break rocks” shows that the impossible are possible with effort,
determination and faith. It does not matter If people think \ your achievements are done
through luck, what counts is that, you yourself know your effort and sweats poured to attain
it.

Third stanza:

Standin' in the Hall of Fame (Yeah)

And the world's gonna know your name (Yeah)
'Cause you burn with the brightest flame (Yeah)
And the world's gonna know your name (Yeah)
And you'll be on the walls of the Hall of Fame

The lyric emphasized that if someone truly believes in his abilities to achieve their dreams, it
comes with sacrifices, dedication and in the end, you will achieve greatness and be standing
in the hall of fame.
Fourth stanza:

You can go the distance, you can run the mile

You can walk straight through hell with a smile
You can be a hero, you can get the gold
Breakin' all the records they thought never could be broke (Yeah)

It demonstrates the possibilities that are open for everyone to take and that the world
records that someone think can never be broken, could be broken, with the right values.

Fifth stanza:

Do it for your people, do it for your pride

How you ever gonna know if you never even try?
Do it for your country, do it for your name
'Cause there's gon' be a day, when you're

Standing in the Hall of Fame.

‘Do it’ the word pursues people to try, to do the things they want because they may never
get the chance again. “Do it for your people, Do it for your pride… Do it for your country, Do
it for your name. ‘Do it’ to make your love ones proud, to prove those who think you cannot
wrong, and to do it for yourself and your dignity.

Sixth stanza:

Be students, be teachers
Be politicians, be preachers
Be believers, be leaders
Be astronauts, be champions
Be truth-seekers
Don’t wait for luck
Dedicate yourself and you can find yourself
Standing in the Halls of Fame.

Pursue your dreams, to be a teacher, a politician, whether a preacher an astronaut or a champion,

nothing in life is easy, everyone takes the hard way, everyone must dedicate themselves into
pursuing what they want, luck is not the right way to do it, luck will not make you reach the top
however, blood, sweat, conquering your fears and hard-work will never disappoint you and
someday you will achieve greatness and stand in the halls of fame.
Reflection:
No one is truly alive without a dream, without a goal or motivation to look for you will not
move forward and be inspired to live. Whether it is a long or short-term goal, to lose weight, to
graduate, to achieve greatness, having a goal is the greatest way to spend your life with.

This song is meant to be an inspirational song which tells people they can do the impossible if
they put hard work, believe in themselves, what they are capable of, and their dreams. You will not
know if you do not try, so fight for the right things. You can be anything you set your mind to. If
anyone says you cannot, take that as a challenge to prove them wrong.

My essence in life is to be a programmer, to own a house, work abroad, travel and help my
parents before having a family. This song symbolizes my dedication, my hard-work and belief in life.
“Don’t wait for luck, dedicate yourself and you will find yourself standing in the halls of fame” this line
of the song turns to be my value in life. I do not believe that luck is the answer, especially when going
through your future, depending on luck and destiny is wrong. “This is what God planned for me” or
“This is my destiny I cannot overtake it”. No, I chose my own path, I build my future, every decision I
made decides what lies ahead of me. Just like what is indicated in the song, “You can talk to God, go
banging on His door.” In my perspective, it seems like when one tries to control his own destiny and
not rely so much to God, praying is not bad, talking to God is not wrong however, wishing for a
bright future without action is.

I chose this song as it reflects my essence and personality, The Script is one of my favorite
bands as their songs are always meaningful and inspirational. “Be students Be teachers Be politicians
Be preachers Be believers Be leaders Be astronauts Be champions Be true seekers” This repetition is
what caught my ears the most in this song. That convincing ‘Be’ makes you just want to get up and
do something. The vocals they use in the song while singing these, emphasized it even more, as if
they are chanting for you to do it, it makes you feel like you are standing on a stadium with people
cheering to pursue your dream. Just like me, I work hard and embrace all the experience I have
whether it is positive or negative to grow, and if things seem to be impossible, I get up take my
chances and surpass my limit.
