ACTIVITY NO. 1
I. OBJECTIVE
At the end of the activity, the students should be able to
perform the activity about accuracy and precision using the materials at home and,
explain the significance of accuracy and precision in the measurements.
ACCURACY refers to how close a measurement is to the true or accepted value. PRECISION
refers to how close measurements of the same item are to each other. Precision is independent of
accuracy. That means it is possible to be very precise but not very accurate, and it is also possible to
be accurate without being precise.

IV. ANALYSIS. Answer the following questions using your own words and understanding.
1. Why is it important that the data gathered should be precise and accurate?
- When collecting scientific measurements, it's crucial to be both precise and
accurate. measures because measurement accuracy reflects how close something
is to its genuine value. This is significant because flawed machinery, inadequate
data processing, or human error can all lead to erroneous outcomes.
2. What are the factors that affect the precision of the data?
- The various aspects that may have an impact on the data's accuracy
methods like incorrect values, incorrect calibrators, and environmental factors.
3. What are the factors that affect the accuracy of the data?
- The variables that can affect the accuracy include things
such as the following: temperature, humidity, pressure, gravity, elevation, vibration,
stress, strain, and lighting which could affect the outcome of the measurement.
Environmental conditions can affect some tests and calibrations more than others.
V. CONCLUSION
- The measurement's accuracy and precision are important since accuracy is used to assess
how well the average of several measurements matches the genuine value or a standard
measurement of the same thing. This is significant since Inaccurate outcomes might be caused
by malfunctioning machinery, inadequate data processing, or human error. The degree of
similarity between different measurements is known as precision.
