Dear Parents,
Your daughter will have to do the following subjects in Grade 10 next year. She will have 6 compulsory
subjects, which are – Religion, First Language, Mathematics, English, History and Science.
In addition, there will be 3 other subject groups, from which the students can choose one from each group.
If there are less than 5 students for a subject, we may not offer the subject.
The students will sit for a total of 9 subjects at the G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) Examination in 2021. There is no
provision for students to offer additional subjects as optional subjects. They may choose any 1 from each
basket, which can be in English or their mother tongue.
Those who wish to offer Geography or Home Science or Media for A’Level, have to offer it at O’Level.
Those who wish to be in the Commerce stream in the A’Level , must do either Business Studies or ICT.
Students who wish to offer BS should have obtained an average of 40% in Maths in Grade 9. (All three terms)
Students who wish to offer ICT should have obtained an average of 50% in Maths in Grade 9. (All three
terms)
Students who wish to offer English Literature must qualify at a special Aptitude test set by the school.
If you have any queries, please send a note through your daughter to the Sectional Heads, Mrs.Nelomi
Gunawardene or Mrs.Ramya Jayasinghe and they will clarify. There will be a meeting for students on
Thursday 15th September at 8.00 a.m to discuss these subjects. If you need no clarification in selecting her
subject, you need not come for the meeting. Please fill the google form on or before the 19th of September.

Students will be able to switch subjects, if they wish to with in the first two weeks in January 2023. This is
urgently required to order the books for next year.
