Teacher’s Activities Student’s Activities

A. Preparatory Activities
• Greetings
Good morning class!
Good morning teacher.

• Prayer
Okay, lets pray and lead the prayer Ms. Hana
Dear, God please guide us….
• Attendance checking

Yes, teacher.

1. Drill

Let’s sing a song

“Math time-tune: it’s a small world

There is just one class

We enjoy a lot

Where our minds think hard

And compute so much

Where the drills are so fast

And the problems are tough

We enjoy our class in Math

Oh, it’s math time after all

Oh, it’s math time after all

Oh, it’s math time after all

Come one and come all

(Back to start)

2. Review

Okay, let’s review our last topic.

Who can tell what our topic is all about?

Can I call Arnel to answer the question?

Arnel: About addition and subtraction teacher!

Very good!
3. Motivation

Mathematics
a.) Drag and drop each fraction into the correct box.

B. Lesson Proper
1. Presentation

a. Setting of Standard

Today we will discuss about mathematics

Multiplies a fraction and a whole number.
But before we begin, I want you to know our five
classroom rules.

1. Listen carefully in the

instruction
2. Respect your classmate’s
opinion.
3. Participate in the activity.
4. Follow direction carefully.
5. Raise your hand if you want
to answer.
Can I expect that from all of you class?
Yes, teacher!

b. Presentation of the Objectives

I have here the objectives that we must meet at the end

of the lesson,

At the end of the lesson, I can:

a. Demonstrates understanding of whole

numbers up to 10 000 000. b.
demonstrates understanding of
divisibility, order of operations,
factors and multiplies, and the four
fundamental operations involving
fractions.
b. able to recognize and represent whole
numbers up to 10 000 000 in various
forms and contexts. 2. Is able to apply
divisibility, order of operations,
factors and multiples, and the four
fundamental operations involving
fractions in mathematical problems
and real-life situations.
c. Multiplies a fraction and a whole
number and another.

2. Activity
“let’s play”
Fraction snake board games

Direction: (Group activity) I will group you into 4 groups and

select a leader. Instructions: I have picture here, whoever
group can finish this within 5 minutes will be the group
winner.
Also include the time you will set for the students to finish
the task.

3. Analysis

What is a fraction?

John: Fraction is not a whole number

What are the processes on how to solve fraction with

whole numbers?
Stephan: Write the whole number as a
fraction with a denominator of 1.
What is step 1?

Conan: Step 1 Multiply the numerators of the

fractions by the whole number.
Very good!

Step 2?

Vickey: Step 2 Multiply the denominators.

Excellent!

Step 3?

Rhea: Step 3 simplify, divide the numerators

and denominator by the same amount.

Why do we need to simplify the result?

Diana: To make it simplest form

Yes! That correct Very good!

It is important to find the final result and simplify it to

simplest form.

4. Abstraction

Question 1
Question 2

For this part, I will demonstrate to you class first how to

multiply fraction and whole number and multiplying
fractions

1.) Multiply the numerators of the fractions by

the whole number.

2.) To simplify, divide the numerators and

denominator by the same amount.

Why is it important to simply the result pupils?

Because to make fraction is in its simplest form.

Pupils: To make it simplest form
Do you understand class?
Yes teacher

Fraction to fractions

I have here a picture on how to multiply fractions and I will

explain this to you.

Now, let’s try if you can answer this. I hope you able to
answer the examples class!

1.) 3/4 x 1/2

2.) 8/10 x 5/8

Okay, who can solve this problem? Or any volunteer?

Okay, Liza please solve the problem.

Very good! Liza: Yes ma’am.

3/4 x 1/2 = 3x1 =3/20

How about the number two problem who can solve? 4x5
Okay, Bruno please answer the problem.
Very good Bruno!! Bruno: Yes ma’am.

8/10 x5/8 = 8x5 = 40/40 or 1

5x8 1
I have a step on how to simplify 40/40 class in order for
you to understand further.

The simplest form of 40 40 is 1 1 .

Steps to simplifying fractions

1. Find the GCD (or HCF) of numerator and
denominator
GCD of 40 and 40 is 40
2. Divide both the numerator and denominator
by the GCD
40 ÷ 40 40 ÷ 40
3. Reduced fraction: 1 1
Therefore, 40/40 simplified to lowest terms
is 1/1.

5. Application

Instruction: Fill in the blanks.

Note: This activity is only for 5 minutes.

C. Concluding Activities
1. Generalization

For this moment, I will ask you class what have

you learned about the discussion.

What is the first step for multiplying fraction by the

whole number?

Class: Multiply the numerator to the whole

number.
Very good class!

What is the step 3 for multiplying fractions?

Class: Step 3 simplify, divide the numerators

and denominator by the same amount.
Impressive! Thank you because all of you had learned
the topic today.

2. Valuing

Is it important to know how solve fraction?

If yes, why?

Class: We can use that in everyday life, like

buying.

Class: So, we can understand the nature of

numbers.

Class: it will help to understand algebra

V. Evaluation

Note: This activity is only for 5 minutes.

Make your own design about step-by-step procedure of

multiplying fractions

VI. Assignment

(Assignments can be connected to the current lesson or

you can make the next lesson as an assignment.)

Instructions:
a.) Research and write in a paper about the step-by-step
procedures on how to divide fractions and,
b.) illustrate/design a visual presentation on how to divide
fraction.
