Question 1 :
Ans:
In the 17th century the scientific method has guided the advancement of
science. Since one's interpretation of the observation may be distorted by
cognitive presumptions. It requires careful observation and the
application of severe scepticism regarding what is observed. It entails
creating hypotheses through induction based on these observations,
evaluating the hypotheses, deductions through experimental and
measurement-based testing and then revising the hypotheses depending
on the experimental results. These are the guiding principles of the
scientific process as opposed to a predetermined set of steps that apply
to all scientific endeavours. The process in the scientific method
involves making conjectures, deriving predictions from the hypotheses
as logical consequences, and then carrying out experiments or empirical
observations based on those predictions. A hypothesis is a result based
on knowledge obtained while seeking answers to the question. The
hypothesis might be very specific or it might be broad. Scientists then
test hypotheses by conducting experiments and studies.A scientific
hypothesis must be falsifiable implying that it is possible to identify a possible
outcome of an experiment or observation that conflicts with predictions
deduced from the hypothesis otherwise the hypothesis cannot be
meaningfully tested. The purpose of an experiment is to determine whether
observations agree with or rejects the expectations deduced from a hypothesis.
Experiments can take place anywhere from a garage to a mountain top. There
are difficulties in a formulaic statement of method however though the
scientific method is often presented as a fixed sequence of steps. The
ubiquitous element in the scientific method is empiricism. This is in opposition
to stringent forms of rationalism . The scientific method embodies the position
that reason alone cannot solve a particular scientific problem.
