November 2021 / M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University / Introduction to Research Methods / Lecturer Uterbayev Artur
RESEARCH QUESTIONS
1. What are the traffic deaths?
2. What are the sizes of the issue?
3. Which methods could be used for minimization of the
effect?
4. Are there any obstacles?
RESEARCH PROBLEMS
The problem we are trying to solve are traffic deaths,
which is the main reason for deaths of young people in the
world
RESEARCH DESIGN
Qualitative - Grounded Theory
DATA ANALYSIS
Collecting existing data on road deaths and
collecting data from the participants, who we
would choose for the study.
PARTICIPANTS
Local and central government officials and non-profits
which work in this sphere. 7 participants. Interviews via
Zoom and live interviews. Participants not only have
zero risk any loses of any kind, but also can be heard
and help in increasing of quantity of researches on this
topic

NATURE OF THE TRAFFIC DEATHS
Research methods
Collection of data - both quantitative and qualitative data
Rigorous methods - collecting, analyzing and interpreting all the data
These data sets are integrated
Reason for this method - flexibility and ability to use pragmatic worldview.
Using datasets is easier, because we have both qualitative and quantitative datas
Components of introduction
1. Research problem - Lack of factual definition of the term "Road User Distraction" and
current estimates.
2. Previous studies on the topic - stand in independent part of 2.2, which talks about
previous studies, data and analysis
3. Deficiency in studies - possible lack of factual definitions, lack of validity of some
accidents and thus the luck in studies.
4. Significance for audiences - valuable for the researchers, for the governments to
implement the studies
5. Purpose statement - to define Road user distraction, its effects on road users and
overall review of the aspect.
