1.1.1 Power supply and alarm relay connection
The AlphaConnec t 48 is meant f or dual supply , a main supply of t en t aken f rom t he
generat or of t he ship, and a bat t ery bac k up supply of t en t aken f rom t he radio
bat t ery of t he ship.
The t w o supplies are t aken t hrough t he c able glands in t he bot t om of t he c abinet , and
c onnec t ed t o t he Pow er I nput Module ( PI M) . The PI M is loc at ed low right at t he
int erior bac kside of t he sy st em.

3 t erminals of t he PI M module J1 are dev ot ed t he alarm relay . The alarm relay is
ac t iv at ed w henev er only one of t he pow er supplies are present , or w henev er t he
pow er supply of t he AlphaConnec t 48 board magazine dec ides t o send an alarm
indic at ion. This c ould be c aused by high t emperat ure, f ault y pow er supply operat ion
or sof t w are break dow n.
I f t he AlphaConnec t 48 is operat ed on a single supply , loops bet w een t he M+ and B+
and M- and B- must be set , ot herw ise t he alarm relay w ill st ay in alarm st at e.

Celsius. The higher av erage t emperat ure of operat ion, t he more of t en t he f ans must
be replac ed.
