GREAT BOOKS

01 eLMS Activity 3

Instructions: Write a short essay on the importance of reading and understanding the intention
served by the authors/writers.

In order to comprehend a book and all of its elements more fully, it is crucial to
comprehend the writers' intentions or the reason(s) behind their writing. Books were written by
authors for a number of purposes, sometimes to convey a subject or occasionally to impart a
lesson. Additionally, it occasionally provides us with more insight into concepts we already know
a little bit about. Also, it helps the reader learn. For instance, if the reader reads the Bible, he or
she will understand what is right and wrong and be inspired to act morally and with kindness
toward everyone. Knowing the author's intention helps us identify the strategies they used, such
as word choice, style, tone, and, of course, substance, to achieve that goal. It instructs us to
evaluate the information using those filters and to be aware that the author might have
preconceptions, experiences, or opinions that are different from our own.
