Air Canada hoped to solve the problems that described below:

1. The usage of several different legacy software packages installed over the last 15 years.
2. The costs on Air Canada the inefficiencies of these systems were causing.
3. The lack of professionalism that they had in some fields to maintenance engineering, line
maintenance and materials management. The mis management of some other departments,
heavy maintenance, shop maintenance and finance.

Maintenix offers a system platform that is reachable over the Web and simple to deploy to all stations
worldwide. Mxi says that by enabling maintenance, engineering, and finance divisions to readily convey
information, its platform eliminates production tasks and time spent tracking down missing or
incomplete information. This ensures increased operating efficiency. Data from Maintenix may be fed
into the company's existing enterprise resource planning and finance tools. Because aircraft
professionals, equipment, and components are constantly on the go, wireless deployment makes
Maintenix more effective. All of the information offered by Maintenix's many components results in
faster scheduling and avoids the dangers of poorly structured information systems.

Three decisions supported by Maintenix system are maintenance engineering, line maintenance and
materials management modules.

The maintenance engineering module: The airline can set up a logical configuration which describes
aircraft components, part relationships, and compatibility rules. The mix modules used to establish the
configuration hierarchy rules, and maintenance program that all of the other modules depend upon.

The line maintenance: This module allows Air Canada to ensure that qualified technicians are available
before they schedule maintenance. The mix provides line station planning applications based on the
capabilities of the line station facilities as well as the aircrafts’ scheduled locations.

Materials management module: The mix guarantees that the bare minimum of each item is always in
stock, preventing engineers from running out of parts at any moment. When Air Canada personnel work
on planes, they employ a variety of outdated software programs that have been installed during the
previous 15 years. The systems, as well as the financial and inventory systems, do not always
communicate with one another. As a result, the Montreal-based airline has engaged Ottowa-based Mxi
Technologies Ltd. to replace it. The businesses announced this week that Air Canada will begin using
Mxi's Maintenix software next year.
