Are You Complying with the Work at Height Regulations?

Drive down any road in the UK and within ten

minutes you will pass someone working on an
unfooted, unsecured ladder.

THIS IS NOW ILLEGAL!

BUT...this does not mean you have to immediately swap your ladder for a tower or a cherry picker. Do the risk
assessment, pick the right kit for the job and make sure the person is trained to use it. When using a ladder
follow Schedule 6 of WAHR:

[5] The feet of a portable ladder shall be prevented from slipping by;
(a) securing the stiles at or near their upper or lower ends; or
(b) effective anti-slip or other effective stability device; or
(c) any other arrangement of equivalent effectiveness.
