Introduction

This paper is based on the Introduction to Prosecution. Discussed by: Prof. Ricket Layug,
The prosecution conducted a preliminary investigation to determine the existence of probable cause. The Differences of
Preliminary Investigation and Inquest proceeding, each task and purpose and five preliminary investigations proper.

Content/Body

Prosecution services are, in fact, society's principal means of pursuing punishment of criminal behavior and its interface with
the adjudicative power. Only cases that are brought to courts by public prosecutors can be processed and adjudicated by
judges. The criminal justice system, essentially,is the system or process in the community by which crimes are investigated,
and the persons suspected thereof are taken into custody, prosecuted in court and punished, if found guilty, provisions being
made for their correction and rehabilitation. The police officers, in other words, collect evidence for use in the prosecution of
the suspects in the court. Aside from being the prosecution arm of the government, the DOJ shall have the following powers
and functions. Act as
principal law agency of the government and as legal counsel and representative thereof, whenever so required; b.
Administer the probation and correction system; c. Extend free legal assistance/representation to indigents and poor litigants
in criminal cases and noncommercial civil disputes; d. Preserve the integrity of land titles through proper registration; e.
Investigate and arbitrate untitled land disputes involving small landowners and members of indigenous cultural communities;
Preliminary investigations may be conducted by the public prosecutors or judges of the Municipal Circuit Trial Courts.
inquest investigation, which is an informal and summary investigation conducted by a public prosecutor in criminal cases
involving persons arrested and detained without the benefit of a warrant of arrest for the purpose.

Knowledge Acquired

The importance of being knowlegeable of the process and right state of mind, Emotionally and physically. To have the best
interest for the people of the philippines.

Life Application

To do the right thing without anyone looking to follow the law. Purpose of knowing human dignity and how to conduct the
investigation and prosecution of all crimes. Preparing legal opinions on queries involving violations of the Revised Penal
Code and special penal laws, have the necessary information or complaint prepared or made against the persons accused.
In the conduct of such investigations. Preparation of resolution based on the evidence presented, as the investigating
prosecutor, errors of law or irregularities have been committed during the trial prejudicial to the substantial rights of the
accused that I can use for future reference.
