English Interview
I’m Olsen. I’m student in computer science. I can say that I don’t have a formal job experience yet.
But I remember when I was in Haiti in my classic school, I was considered as a presenter of cultural
show, because I was a poet and a day, they asked me to present a show. I said yes, no problem for
that. So, I really did it very well because my connection of public is very intense, and after that
presentation all the rest of the shows, I had to do them all the time, but I had not get paid for doing
it. And I also remember that I was working in church as pianist, sometimes they paid me and
sometimes no, but I wasn’t matter for me because is not money the first otherwise piano is my
passion, I really enjoy playing piano. So, I really didn’t care about getting paid o no. So, I had to leave
all my activities over there to come here in the Dominican Republic and keep doing my studies. So,
that’s a part about my life.
“I know that, this could be a stressful job. I know that the schedule changes from time to time. It can
be, you never know.
“But you see, I just a student now. And as far as I know, this is the only industry where I have equal
opportunity as everyone else, where I actually have the chance to build a career.
And I would really love to take advantage of that and make that happen specifically in your
company.
“If you give me a chance to work for your company, you will not regret it. Because I always make it
my goal to keep learning and improving. My short school education won’t stop me from absorbing
everything that you have to teach.
“I’m also not gonna be one of those employees who leave after months of being hired. I intend to
establish my roots here.”
“But then I realized, “Hmm, small talks are actually necessary. You see, you simply can’t ask a
stranger about his regrets and aspirations. That’d be weird! You first need to test the waters and
make bite-sized interactions. You can only do that with small talks.
“And I thought to myself, “Well, this is definitely something I should improve on.” So every day, I
made a conscious effort to smile at strangers, talk to them during parties, and I think I’m making
progress.
“In the past, I have found it difficult to work with aggressive personality types. While I
understand diversity in personalities makes a business strong, I tend to quiet my own ideas
and opinions around louder colleagues.
To combat this, I have made it a point to spend more time with colleagues I feel
uncomfortable working with. By learning more about them, their communication style and
motivations, I am better able to collaborate with these personality types so that we both
equally contribute our strengths and skills.”
I also understand that many experts around me have specific knowledge and
skills that can make my work better. While I am still working on it, I have
been able to produce more high-quality work as a result of getting help from
those around me.”
