ADVANCE PISTOL MARKSMANSHIP COURSE

for the National Bureau of Investigation

Program of Instruction
The Advance Pistol Marksmanship not only doubly reinforces the skill sets already
learned in the previous two courses, it serves as the basis for transitioning these skill
sets to other applicable weapons systems that are used by the NBI.

This course also introduces students to vital, life-saving techniques that are currently
in-use the world over wherein agents / operators have to deal in ever-changing
dynamic situations such as serving Search or Arrest Warrants in built-up urban
areas, movement in buildings, etc.

The course is primarily intended for participants who have already undergone the two
previous courses and this course is a pre-requisite in moving on to other advance
courses such as Close Quarters Battle (CQB), Night Fighting Courses, Vehicle
Interdiction Courses, Executive Protection Courses, etc.

OBJECTIVES

At the end of this course, participants will:

 Learn such skills as clearing a room, doing dynamic entries, and moving
around in structures or built-up urban areas individually or as a team;
 How to aggressively control dynamic shooting situations that may include
dealing with active shooters inside rooms, etc;
 Establishing zones / sectors of movement, coverage, and action;
 Basic principles of inserting to and extracting from target areas;

The seminar will cover the following topics, to wit:

A. Quick Review of Previous Lessons from previous courses


o Four Universal / Gun Safety Rules
o Mindset and Preparation
o Shooting Positions
o Reloading, Malfunction, and Contact Drills

B. Movement
o Individual Movement
o Team Movement – 2, 3, or multiple-men movement
o Close Quarters Movement (“Flow”)
o Navigation inside Close Quarters

C. Room / Building Entry


o Determining Breach Points
o Breaching Methods
o Dynamic Entry / Insertion
o Establishing Security
o Extraction

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Participants are required to comply with minimum health standards.

Participants are expected to have the accompanying basic gear:


o Service pistol with three (3) magazines
o Holster and minimum two (2) magazine carriers
o EDC or Gun belt
o Eye Protection
o Hearing Protection
o Optional Gear (if available) will include:
- Additional magazines
- Plate Carrier / Body Armor
- Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK) w/ Tourniquet
- All other gear as may be prescribed and/or required

In addition, the participants must have successfully passed the Basic and
Intermediate Pistol Marksmanship Courses (or their equivalent).

COURSE METHODOLOGY

The conduct of the program will be done in a variety of teaching methods such as
lecture, interactive discussion, hands-on / actual training with one-on-one
instructor/student participation (if needed). Group activities will be done in later
classes or as required by course curriculum

COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS

A participant will receive a Certificate of Completion if:

- if he/she has attended at least 90% of the workshop hours.


- if he/she passes the Final Exam qualification with at least an 80% passing mark in
practical exercises (if practicable).

Participants’ attendance checking will be done at start of day and end of day
everyday

DURATION

The workshop will be conducted for a total of forty hours (40) hours. Sessions will be
held every day for a total of five (5) days at eight (8) hours per day.
