WHAT IS INTEGRATIVE ART?

Integrative art refers to interdisciplinary art, art study, development, production display, or
creative creation of work that makes full use of two or more disciplines to produce a work
for a particular public. This explains why contemporary arts is also said to be dynamic,
creative, original, expressive or innovative. It can co-exist with other forms of arts to
produce a brand-new idea, products or masterpieces beneficial for both the artist and the
spectators.

Contemporary art has taken a new form. They are no longer what they were many years
ago. Visual arts, applied arts, performing arts may now be blended. Indeed, integrative art
is a clear reflection of Contemporary Art Forms.

Example:
1. Photography + literary piece
2. Music + dance
3. Painting + pottery
4. Architectural + film production

people’s way of living, or show certain traditions, beliefs, or societal issues through body
movements. The colourful street dancing that we see during town festivals is one common
example. Through technology choreography has also been innovated as a form of digital art
by the 21st Century Folks. An example of this is the famous shadow play of El Gamma
Penumbra recognized as a World-Class performance by talented Filipino artists.

2. LITERARY & MUSICAL – musical instrument is also an integrative art form. It is not only
used as a tool to produce music, but visual art is also seen through the intricate designs of
the musical instruments. When musical compositions are combined with literary works, the
songs become stronger especially when it comes to the message with social significance.

crossed over with literary arts. Also, the emergence of digital cameras has given rise to
Philippine Independent movies which has become the avenue to make aware of the
