The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the
Father and the Son

of the Son and of the the Holy Spirit be
Holy Spirit with you all.
When do we receive the holy spirit?

When we trust in Jesus Christ to be

our Lord and Savior.

13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard
the word of truth, the gospel of your
salvation; in whom also, having believed, you
were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,
14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance
until the redemption of the purchased
possession, to the praise of His glory.

He indwells us permanently and will never leave us (John 14:16-17)

16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and
be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it
neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be
in you.

ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit
intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
The Holy Spirit is the source of the
abundant and fruitful Christian life.

1 CORINTHIANS 2:14

not accept the things that come from
the Spirit of God but considers them
foolishness, and cannot understand them
because they are discerned only
through the Spirit.
The holy spirit-filled

Someone who lives in the power of the

ACTS 13:52
52 And the disciples were filled with
joy and with the Holy Spirit.

THIS IS THE NORMAL

CHRISTIAN LIFE.
tHE cARNAL CHRISTIAN
Someone who lives in the power
of the flesh
1 CORINTHIANS 3:1-3
1 Brothers and sisters, I could not address you
as people who live by the Spirit but as people
who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ. 2 I
gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not
yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready.
3 You are still worldly. For since there is
jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not
worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? THIS IS THE ABNORMAL
CHRISTIAN LIFE.
GALATIANS 5:19-21

19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual

immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry
and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage,
selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy;
drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I
did before, that those who live like this will not
inherit the kingdom of God.
