Art description: Sandico-Ong’s bags and accessories are all hand-made and are produced in the
same areas were she sourced her materials, providing livelihood to residents of rural areas in the
Philippines. Some of her bags are made by members of the Mangyan tribe in Mindoro. Others are
made in Bulacan, Catanduanes and other parts of the country. Sandico-Ong is particularly proud of
her partnership with the Baras Multipurpose Cooperative in Catanduanes where she has worked
with the weavers for more than two decades.

Art description: Taking inspiration from the lush flora and fauna and treelined white-sand beaches
of Palawan, Rajo Laurel takes the meaning of resort wear to a whole new level. It’s not just about
clothes one wears at a resort but it’s all about actually wearin the resort.

1. What is your reaction to the creation of the Filipino designers presented? Which one
particularly impressed or appealed to you?

Answer : The designs were very impressive and the style were very unique, definitely my style.
The one that made me impressed more are the bags, I’ve always wanted beautiful bags and these
designs are very suitable for my preference.

2. How does technology drive the applied arts as product design, fashion design, and
industrial design?

Answer : Technology, has a big impact on our lives especially in arts. The advantage of technology
is that it made everything easy with it we can make things better, like creating arts, it has these
apps where people can paint and draw. An app named Photoshop is where digital artist do their
artwork, they can also used it as a design maker for fashion and product design.

3.Do you consider comics illustration a modern way form of art? Why or why not?

Answer : For me, yes. A comic book, also called comicbook, comic magazine or simply comic, is a
publication that consists of comics art. The comic illustrator uses many formats: syndicated
newspaper comic strips, magazine-style comic books or editorial cartoons. Comics (or, less
commonly, sequential art) is a form of visual art consisting of images.
