Note:
・ If the needle roller bearing is difficult to insert,
align the angles of the spline yoke, tube, and
needle roller bearing before press-fitting again.
The needle roller bearing will be difficult to press-fit if
the angles of the spline yoke, tube, and needle roller
bearing are not aligned.
14) Install the snap ring to the spline yoke and tube.
Caution:
・ Do not reuse the snap ring.

boot is securely installed to the brake support

detection method.
5) Inspect the bushing for the following.

・ Other malfunctions
Note:
・ If an abnormal condition is found as a result of
inspection, replace the knuckle.
3C-30 Drive Shaft System
1) Fill the grease pocket of the front hub with BESCO 1. 5-8840-2853-0
L-2 grease or equivalent. 2. 5-8840-0007-0
10) After adjusting the preload, turn the front hub to the
left and right several times to recheck the preload.
11) Rotate the front hub in the forward direction 3
rotations.
12) Inspect the hub bearing for the following.
・ Looseness
・ Abnormal feeling
・ Abnormal weight
Caution:
・ If an abnormal condition is found, retry the
procedure from the beginning.
13) Install the nut retainer and cotter pin to the knuckle.

Caution:
・ After completing installation, make sure to
further tighten the wheel nuts to the specified
torque after the vehicle has been driven a
distance exceeding the standard value.
Standard: 50 to 100 km { 31 to 62 mile }

1. Rear axle shaft disassembly
1) Remove the snap ring from the rear axle shaft using
snap ring pliers.
2) Remove the shim from the rear axle shaft.
Note:
・ If any shims are installed, remove them.
3) Grind the retainer surface using a grinder.
4) Remove the retainer from the rear axle shaft using a
chisel.
5) Install the special tool to the rear axle shaft.

・ Repair minor stepped wear with a pencil
grinder or an oil stone.

2) Measure the runout of the rear axle shaft flange
section at the location shown in the following
diagram using a dial gauge.
Note:
・ Support the center of both ends of the rear
axle shaft and slowly rotate the rear axle shaft
to measure the runout.
Limit: 0.08 mm or less { 0.003 in or less }

1) Install the hub outer oil seal to the bearing holder
using the special tool.
Note:
・ Install the oil seal so that it is flush with the SST: 9-8522-1271-0 - bearing installer

To keep the steering wheel in the center position, adjust
by rotating both of the left and right tie rods only the

3) After adjusting the toe-in, tighten the lock nut to
secure the tie rod.

8. Maximum steering angle measurement
Measure the maximum wheel steering angle using a
turning radius gauge.
1) Check whether the front wheel interferes with other
parts.
2) Turn the steering wheel to the maximum left and
right.
3) Read the maximum wheel steering angle on the
turning radius gauge.
Caution:
・ Leave the brakes applied until the completion
of measurement.
