PHYLOSOPHY OF HUMAN
PERSON
A sense of wonder is the starting point for
philosophy. The human being is amazed by God, the
world, and their very being. Among the ancient Greek
thinkers, Philosophy was primarily astounded by cosmic
realities. In later Renaissance and Reformation, coined by
the philosophy of Descartes, allowed for the shifting of
philosophy to the human person as to its object. With the
rise of experimental sciences in modern times, the human
person has become the primary and exclusive object of
many disciplines like psychology, psychoanalysis,
sociology, anthropology, political science, etc.
Nowadays, even in theology, an anthropological trend
arises. However, the approach and object of Philosophy
of the Human Person are pretty different from these
sciences

Definition of Philosophy of the Human Person
Reyes added that in Philosophy of the Human Person, we deal with the human
being who is a mystery to be understood more than a problem to be solved once
and for all. We cannot demand a conclusive, authoritative answer but only a
response. (Reyes, 2020)
