skills #1 1. Kaingin System – is the cutting down and burning of trees and plant growth in an
area for cultivation purposes. Kaingin is a Filipino word that means clearing. Known
as swidden farming in other countries, it is a traditional but destructive agricultural
system practiced in many parts of the globe.
2. Incineration – is a waste treatment process that involves the combustion of organic
substances contained in waste materials. Incineration of waste materials converts the
waste into ash, flue gas and heat.
3. Overpopulation – is an undesirable condition where the number of existing human
population exceeds the carrying capacity of Earth. It is caused by number of factors.
Reduced mortality rate, better medical facilities, depletion of precious resources are
few of the causes which results in overpopulation.
4. Deforestation – is the permanent removal of trees to make room for something
besides the forest. This can include clearing the land for agriculture or grazing, or
using the timber for fuel, construction, or manufacturing.

Practices in Preventing Changes that Pose Harm / Hazard in the Environment and
Living Organisms
1. Speak up! – Talk to your friends and family, and make sure your representatives
are making good decisions.
2. Power your home with renewable energy. – used power from wind or solar. Save
electricity.
3. Weatherize -you can make your space more energy efficient by sealing drafts and
ensuring it’s adequately insulated.
4. Invest in energy-efficient appliances. 
5. Reduce water waste or save water.
6. Use reusable bags.
7. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
8. Use a natural sunscreen.
9. Take good care of the environment so that life could continue to thrive on Earth.
