 Insight Paper: Local and International Enterprises

I. Key points

The process by which individuals, businesses, and entrepreneurs create and finance
solutions that directly address social issues is known as social entrepreneurship. Therefore, a
social entrepreneur is a person who looks into business opportunities that benefit their
community, society, or the entire planet. I selected these social entrepreneurs because I have
gained knowledge from them. The local and international businesses. They each take a
different approach to business, and in time, I will benefit greatly from their insights if I
decide to pursue entrepreneurship.

Local Enterprise
Spektrum Native Hut Shop

The business is called Spektrum Native Hut Shop. The CEO, Mr. Labura, chose it
because spectrum refers to a variety of colors. That applies to his goods. They come in a
variety of hues. He changed the letter "c" to the letter "k" to make it sound more "Pinoy."
This business manufactures fashion accessories. However, there are two different
categories into which fashion accessories can be categorized: fine jewelry and costume
jewelry. The company operates in the latter market niche.
A. International Enterprise

 The first wellness center in the UK, Projekt 42, offers personal training, group
fitness, yoga, and mental health services as part of a single membership. We make
scheduling an appointment with a person-centered counselor, a CBT therapist, or a
psychotherapist as simple as scheduling a fitness class. Our mission is to assist
communities in realizing the link between their physical and mental health, as well as the
importance of caring for both.
Compared to most commercial gyms, Projekt 42 is unique. They don't have
any shareholders, and they use a circular revenue system where up to 40% of the
membership fee that people pay to use our services is used to pay for free and
partially funded counseling, free monthly memberships, and community programs
for members of the local community. With just four volunteers when they first
started in 2017, they now have a team of more than 100 people working together to
assist as many members of our community as possible in accessing fitness, yoga,
and mental health services.
II. Insights
A. Local Enterprise

Glecerio "Jun" Labura Spektrum CEO of Spektrum Native Hut Shop in Cebu, All
of Mr. Labora's accessories are made from locally sourced materials. He uses these
materials to create earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and rings. His designs are what set him
apart from other jewelry designers. Indigenous materials include bamboo, rattan, shells,
animal byproducts, leaves, and the like.
These resources are most common in tropical nations like the Philippines. The fact
that he manufactures his goods also gives him a competitive advantage because he need
not worry about incurring additional costs. As of now, there are around five people doing
the assembly of the accessories. Most of who are Mr. Labura's relatives.  He has only one
stall which is located in Park mall and has been in operation for three years. But Mr.Labura
is ambitious, determined and passionate about his work, which would really aid in the
growing of his business.
B. International Enterprise.

They support several different charitable activities through the sale of the monthly
membership and pay-as-you-go class fees. Every time you attend a class or continue to pay
your monthly subscription fee, you are helping Projekt 42 to not only support people with
free and low-cost counselling but you're also helping support the following activities. Projekt
42 use the profit that would ordinarily go to private shareholders to do the following:

 Deliver over 150 hours of fitness, yoga and meditation classes each week. Everyday
there are a number of free activities from fitness to yoga, and class prices starting
from £1.50
 Work towards reducing the barriers families face when accessing physical fitness and
mental health activities by delivering family activities, allowing children to participate
in classes and having an on-site crèche staffed by a childcare practitioner
 Have a team of 80+ counsellors, psychotherapists and Cognitive Behavioral
Therapists working alongside our fitness and yoga team. They provide funded
counselling sessions to anyone who applies via our self-referral application form. For
the most vulnerable people in their community, access their counselling service is free
and for those that can contribute, their subsidized price per session starts at £25.00.
 Provide support and funding for people to train towards completing fitness industry
qualifications and support towards gaining employment

III. Learnings from the activity.

This activity enabled me to increase my understanding of both domestic and foreign
businesses. I learned a lot from this activity about the various business strategies used by
entrepreneurs around the globe. I have learned their methods for maintaining a business,
expanding your connections, and maintaining happy customers. I was able to explore some
business-related topics thanks to this activity. Before taking this course and engaging in this
activity, I had never been more interested in business. It amazed me how much both local and
international businesses have to offer in terms of running a successful business. I wish I could
still remember the lessons I learned from them soon enough.
