Trese is a story about a young girl who has the
ability to perceive things that are not visible to
others, such as manananggal, kapre, and other
mythical creatures. She inherited these abilities
from her grandmother and usually get bullied
by her cousins because of how different she is
among other people. When she turned 13, she
did not only encounter and experience strange
scenarios, but also gained responsibility.

“Narating namin ang pinakatuktok ng Mayon Volcano.
Malapit na malapit parang close up shot. Pinalibutan
kami ng mga ulap. Nagparang-salakot ito sa tuktok ng
bundok. Ngunit sandali lamang iyon dahil nagkapira-
piraso ang mga ulap. Natakpan ang mga mata ko.
Inaaninaw ko na lamang ang tuktok ng bundok.
Lumakas pang lalo ang kaba ko. Palakas ng Palakas.
Hanggang sa magka-sound ang pinapanood ko. Noon ko
lamang napansin na hawak pala nila ang tig-isang
kamay ko at nakabitiw ako sa kanilaa. Nakita ko nang
mabiyak ang gilid ng Mayon Volcano. Nagising ako sa
panaginip.”

“Umaga na ng kaarawan ko nang magising ako
kinabukasan. Pasko. Hindi ko napansin ang mga regalo
sa tabi ng kama. Amoy na amoy ang asupre sa loob ng
kuwarto ko at may mga alikabok ng abo ang kanang
manggas ng T-shirt ko. Pinapagpag ko iyon nang
pumasok sina Nanay at Tatay sa kuwarto.”

“Wala akong natatandaang pagkakataon na nagnganga
si Tatay. Habang pinapahiran niya ng apog ang buyo,
nakita ko ang Lolo. Na kay Tatay si Lolo. Si Lolo si Tatay.
Kaharap ko ang Lolo Enteng.”

The story started on the Eve of the 13th Her father got possessed by Lolo Enteng
birthday of the main character. She has and Lolo Enteng advised her about what

had sunk but no one was harmed. The mysterious
black creature behind Doria’s back was also gone
the next time she saw the girl passing by. This
second experience in which she saw her dream
come true caused her to question whether her
dreams were merely coincidences or an omen.

FALLING ACTION

RESOLUTION
She told her mother about her dream which
caused Janelle and Doria to angrily attack her
because Auntie Fe did not give them permission
to go on the cruise trip. She saw that there is a
black mysterious creature behind Doria’s back,
the person whom she saw harmed in her dream.
