Me: Para sayo, what is leadership?

Pachi: A great leader for me has a high extent of self-awareness, leads by example, has a purpose, the
power (authority), and responsibility for them to make an impact. Selflessness, Empathy, Real, Value
people, and Empowering others are also great qualities for a leader. So, a great leader serves.

Me: Ano ang mga katangian na makakapagsabi na ang isang tao ay karapat dapat na maging leader?

Pachi: Ay nabanggit na dun sa first question pero ulitin ko na lang uli. A great leader for me has self-
awareness, leads by example, has a purpose, the power (authority), and responsibility for them to make
an impact.

Me: Pano mo masasabi na isa kang leader?

Pachi: Aside from having some of those qualities, I am harnessing those qualities and putting them into
practice by participating in RCY established in NU-Laguna. There I am surrounded by my fellow student
leaders who create events aimed at providing support to the beneficiaries.

Me: Magbigay ng pagkakataon na naipakita mo ang leadership skills mo?

Pachi: During the preparation phase of our events. This is where we put our efforts, and delegated tasks
to members and member search members towards the completion of the preparations, both on paper
and in setting up the venues.

Me: E ano naman ang volunteerism para sayo?

Pachi: It is a venue for one to explore and find it, find their purposes an even better person. This also
allows for the creation of relationships with people who share common goals. All of these persons and
relationships will help them achieve their goals.

Me: Magbigay ng pagkakataon na ikaw ay nagvolunteer at kung bakit ka nagvolunteer

Pachi: During an event in the NUL RCY where we planned a donation drive event for Christmas. The
Christmas Carol celebration and the promotion of bloodletting campaigns. These two were the proudest
due to the effort I gave and the success of the outcome.

Me: Ano ang relationship ng leadership and volunteerism?

Pachi: Volunteerism and leadership are linked. Volunteering allows you to build your leadership skills
through collaboration with other leaders and utilizing the opportunities as a volunteer to practice
leadership skills. It says a lot about one’s decision to volunteer to lead. Because volunteering and leading
is not something you do because you were told to, true volunteerism and leadership come from within.

Me: What does volunteerism teach you about leadership?

Pachi: It teaches us how to be passionate, motivated, responsible, and accountable for our actions.
These are essential qualities for a leader to have, being passionate and motivated will help in
empowering those people who you are leading. More so, being responsible and accountable builds up
credibility.
