What is ADHD?
ADHD or attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder is a behavioral
01 condition that presents differences in the brain develpment and
its activity.

02 It affects attention, the capicity of staying still and auto-control.

04 It's more common in boys and girls, and it can also appear in
adults.

What causes it?


Causes are yet not discovered, but studies have pointed out that it cn be caused by the interaction between genes,
and enviromental factors.

Other causes could be:

01 The consumption of drugs and alcohol during pregnancy

02 Low birth weight

03 Brain injuries

Is there a cure?
No cure exists for this disorder but actual treatments can reduce symptoms.
Medication can help children to improve attention and control their behaviour.

Physiological basis
When you suffer ADHD, some parts of the brain as some lobes on the cerebral cortex, hippocampus… are smaller or
are not matured.
Kids with ADHD could be smart, but some parts are not as they should be. Emotional control and the working
memory aren’t matured and make the kid be behind the rest of the people.
In kids with ADHD, the brain takes longer to ”switch off” activity in the default mode network, when they need to
focus. It affects the front-parietal network, because it plays a key role in learning and making decision.
ADHD affects the sending of neurons, because they may not release enough neurotransmitters. For many people a
treatment can improve the connections between neurons.
