1 Specification
1.1 System Overview
The F110 tablet computer is a new mainstream high performance thin and
light fully-rugged tablet in the Getac tablet family.

The new F110 is fully -rugged tablet, high - portability industrial tablet
computer. It can be used in the vehicle, field, and office. The tablet computer
also can connect with a docking to extend the capability of I/O devices.

The F110 design Intel Skylake platform, the Skylake (processor, PCH) is
designed for a one-chip platform as opposed to the traditional three-chip
platforms (processor, GMCH, and ICH).

The F110 will support the Intel® Core™ Skylake Processor, Skylake is the
next generation of 64-bit, multi-core mobile processor built on 14-nanometer
process technology, and Skylake build-in MCH supported DDR3L(1600MHz),
GMCH(UMA video control IC). F110 use low power consumption unit
(15W).

The main features of Intel Skylake are shown below

Processor: Intel 8 series / C220 series, mainly computing unit.

DDR3L system memory: Only one 204 pins SODIMM slot for 1.35V DDR3L
memory module, maximum speed is DDR3L-1600.
eDP interface: Support AUO HD panel resolution is 1366X768 ; Also support
CMI FHD panel resolution is 1920X1080.
PCI Express root ports: Support PCI Express 2.0 spec, and 5 GT/s bandwidth
in each direction per X1 lane. Following various SKUs, the root ports will have
different capabilities.
- PCIE Gigabyte LAN chip integrated: Intel® I219-LM chip.
- NGFF PCIE Slot: It usually is occupied by wireless LAN module.
SATA interface: Support SATA 3.0 spec, and 6 Gb/s bandwidth. Connecting
with NGFF Solid Static Disk. It integrated ACHI controller.
USB3.0 ports: Its maximum capabilities can support 10 USB1.1/2.0 ports and
one external USB3.0 “A “ receptacle, others is for internal device used.

LPC (Low Pin Count): there are three devices on this LPC interface, they are
Super I/O chip (SIO1028), TPM (SLB9660TT1.2 FW 4.40), embedded
controller (IT8528E).
SMBUS: It meets SMBUS 2.0 spec and compatible I2C interface. The purpose
is to communicate GIGA LAN PHY and SODIMM’s internal parameter.
High Definition Audio: For Audio Codec, Realtek ALC282-GR use HDA bus
to input/output audio analog function.
Power management: Support ACPI 4.0 and Intel SpeedStep technology.

The Mobile Intel® Series 8 chipset provides extensive I/O support. Functions
and capabilities include:
• PCI Express* Base Specification, Revision 3.0 support for up to eight ports
with transfers up to 8 GT/s
• ACPI Power Management Logic Support, Revision 4.0a
• Enhanced DMA controller, interrupt controller, and timer functions
• Integrated Serial ATA host controllers with independent DMA operation on
up to six ports
• USB host interface with two EHCI high-speed USB 2.0 Host controllers and
two rate matching hubs provide support for up to eight USB 2.0 ports and
one xHCI provides support for up to four SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports.
• Integrated 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet MAC with System Defense
• System Management Bus (SMBus) Specification, Version 2.0 with
additional support for I2C devices
• Supports Intel® High Definition Audio (Intel® HD Audio)
• Supports Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST)
• Supports Intel® Active Management Technology (Intel® AMT)

• Supports Intel® Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (Intel® VT-d)
• Supports Intel® Trusted Execution Technology (Intel® TXT)

System storages use SATA SSD, it support data transfer rates of up to

6.0Gb/s(600MB/s), the SATA controller contains two modes of operation – a
legacy mode using I/O space, and an AHCI mode using memory space.

On PCI-E interface exists Wireless LAN, Gigabit Ethernet Physical Layer

Transceiver (Intel® I218), SD Card controller and a PCI-E expansion interface.
Intel® WiFi Link 6000 Series, Intel’s 3rd generation 802.11n WLAN product,
shall support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, and shall support 20/40MHz wide
channel, reaching PHY rates of up to 450Mbps.

The Intel® I218-LM is a single port Gigabit Ethernet Physical Layer

Transceiver (PHY). It connects to the Intel® 8 Series Express Chipset’s
integrated Media Access Controller (MAC) through a dedicated interconnect.
The I218 supports operation at 1000/100/10 Mb/s data rates. The PHY circuitry
provides a standard IEEE 802.3 Ethernet interface for 1000BASE-TX,
100BASE-TX, and 10BASE-TX applications (802.3, 802.3u, and 802.3ab).
System storages use SATA SSD, it support data transfer rates of up to
6.0Gb/s(600MB/s), the SATA controller contains two modes of operation – a
legacy mode using I/O space, and an AHCI mode using memory space.

F110 provide one NGFF PCIE(USB- bus) slot for 4G module use. The
newest The EM7355 provides LTE, CDMA, and GPS connectivity for portable
and handheld computers, point-of-sale devices, telemetry products and other
machine-to-machine and vertical applications over several radio frequency
bands. (The modem is DC-HSPA+, HSPA+, HSDPA, HSUPA, WCDMA,
GSM, GPRS, and EDGE capable with functionality pending future firmware
support.)

On LPC interface exists SUPER I/O, micro-controller and TPM functions.

Super I/O have one IC, it is SMSC 1028 for one UART function for RS232..
IT8528E is a micro-controller that controls system thermal monitor, thermal
protection, battery charging, miscellaneous function control, and connected the
internal Keyboard. There are there I2C interfaces, totally connecting to the
main battery, second battery, I2C ROM, thermal sensors and night-vision

GPIO number in further purpose. TPM (Trusted Platform Module) is design
Infineon SLB9660TT1.2, it follows TPM standard 1.2, and it can provide more
security environment for end customer.

An Audio CODEC (Realtek ALC282) output stereo-analog channel to internal

speakers, audio Jack and docking connector. System also provides LEDs to
display system status, such as Power On, Battery state, HDD, Num Lock, Caps
Lock, Sunlight Readable, Light Sensor, ECO mode, Bluetooth, wireless, heater
on and 4G indicators.

The system also provides a port to expand Docking capability. Input/output

(I/O) ports can include AC Jack, serial port, LAN port, HDMI port, USB port
and audio Jack.

A full set of software drivers and utilities are available to allow advanced
operating systems such as Windows 8 to take full advantage of the hardware
capabilities.

In F110, there are enough IO expanding capabilities for end user to use.

4 Diagnosis Procedure
Computer problems can be caused by hardware, software, or both. When you
encounter any problem, it might be a typical problem that can easily be solved.
This chapter tells you what actions to take when solving common computer
problems.

4.1. Preliminary Checklist

 Try to isolate which part of the computer is causing the problem.
 Make sure that you turn on all peripheral devices before turning on the
computer.
 If an external device has a problem, make sure that the cable connections
are correct and secure.
 Make sure that the configuration information is properly set in the BIOS
Setup program.
 Make sure that all the device drivers are correctly installed.

4.2. Troubleshooting
Please take note of the following two points with regard to troubleshooting:
1. Know-how of diagnosis upon occurrence of heavy troubles, e.g. Set cannot
be turned ON; Set fails to start, No display on screen, etc.
2. Explanation of each trouble, mainly symptom of trouble in operation.

4.2.1 No Power

When the power button is pressed, nothing happens, no fan activity is heard
and power indicator is not light up. Make sure that Power profile switch is
switched on.
