could be defined as “the body of written works

produced in particular language, country, or age
or the body writings that express ideas of
universal interest and have artistic merits”. It has
two forms poetry and prose
‫نكدر نعرف االدب على انه على أنها "مجموعة األعمال المكتوبة‬
‫التي تم إنتاجها بلغة أو بلد أو عمر معين الي تعبر عن أفكار ذات‬

Poetry:‫الشعر‬
is a form of literature that evokes the feelings
through the use of rhythmical words.
‫الشعر هو نوع من االدب يحاكي المشاعر عن طريق استعمال‬
‫الكلمات االيقاعية‬

 Prose:‫النثر‬
The word prose is used to define any sort of
writing that does not fit a recognized poetical
form. But not all prose is a like, there is almost
endless variety in the way we express ourselves
in writing.
‫كلمة النثر نستعملها حتى نوضح او نعرف اي نوع من الكتابة‬
‫الي يكون غير الشعر لكن مو كل النثر نفس الشي اكو ال نهاية‬
‫من الطرق الي نكدر نعبر بيها عن نفسنه بالكتابة‬
The Difference between Poetry and Prose
‫الفرق بين الشعر والنثر‬

1. The reader enjoys reading poetry without

understanding its meaning, while prose cannot be
enjoyed without understanding its meaning.
‫القاريء يستمتع بقراءة الشعر دون معرفة معناه بينما يستمتع‬
‫القاريء بقراءة النثر بعد فهم معناه‬

 2. In Poetry, enjoyment comes from the music
which springs from the choice of word (diction).
While prose much attention is attached to
meaning.
‫في الشعر المتعة تبين من الموسيقى التي تاتي من اختيار الكلمات‬
.‫بينما في النثر ترفق المتعة بالمعنى‬
3. Poetry is more compressed and intense than
prose
‫الشعر يكون اكثر كثافة وانضغاط من النثر‬
4. A regular recurring rhythm is used in poetry
and there is no rhythm in prose too.
.‫يتم استخدام إيقاع متكرر بالشعر وال يوجد إيقاع بالنثر‬
The Types of Prose ‫انواع النثر‬
Narrative prose: ‫النثر السردي‬
It is a form of writing that tells a definite story
through actions.
.‫إنه شكل من أشكال الكتابة يروي قصة محددة من خالل األفعال‬

 Descriptive prose:‫النثر الوصفي‬
It is the writing that describes scenes, objects,
people or even person’s feelings in such a way
that we can imagine them vividly.
‫النوع من الكتابة الي تصف المشاهد أو األشياء أو األشخاص أو‬
.‫حتى مشاعر الشخص بطريقة يمكننا تخيلها بوضوح‬
Argumentative prose:‫النثر الجدلي‬
It is a type of prose that deals with ideas and
facts.
.‫هذا النوع يتعامل وي االفكار والحقائق‬
